How popular is the Huffington Post?

Being a Brit, I'd never heard of it.

I don't know where the Huff Post ranks but I remember recently hearing they are a threat to convential newspapers herre in the states.

I think the story got past theem because they have been very busy this week. The OSCE meetings and it's annual meeting week so the timing was good. I find this all very exciting but the child molestation thing came and went. I think the flames need to be fanned with awareness of the child molestation issue again. If the case in Australia can be brought to peoples attn as well as revisisted here in the states. As well as pointing out they are being brought up for charges in Brazil in regards to shunning. A perfect storm situation. Even then I don't see them crumbling all at once but if it slows growth down and keeps people from joining it their true colors will start to be apparent to more inside.

yourmomma: How did the lawyers at watchtower let this article get printed? I wonder if as you say, they are so desperate that in their minds the risk of outrage it would cause would be worth it to retain members.

I don't think it has anything to do with desperation or perceived risk. I think it might have something to do with:

Revelation 18:7 - To the extent that she glorified herself and lived in shameless luxury, to that extent give her torment and mourning. For in her heart she keeps saying, ‘I sit a queen, and I am no widow, and I shall never see mourning.’

    "It's gone VIRAL!"

I remember Tony Brace (London Bethel public affairs rep) saying that what concerned the WTBTS about negative media reports most wasn't particularly the effect locally , but the fact that Russian officials & "opposers" picked up the reports and used them to create hassle for the WTBTS.

I suspect that the WTBTS will be much more circumspect in future regarding comments about shunning. Already they talk about what "exemplary" Christians would do (ie kick out their DFd offspring) and look out for the third party fake experiences as to how Bro & Sis Spiritual felt that they should limit their association with Mother Disfellowshipped. These distance the WTBTS from any perception that they are promoting shunning.

How could we make more articles like this public to the media? I would love for a nice topic exposing the WT to "ACCIDENTALLY" go into all JW's emails.

lola-rabbit --- i know/i agree! we could keep the religious section of news media loaded down forever w/watchtower saga/evil. bet the reading stats for newspapers/media cos. would fly off the charts. recall reading yrs. ago someone in the mental health community (psychologists, etc.) said it was the most intelligent run CULT IN THE WORLD! i'll buy that!!
