(may you all have peace!)... after a 25 minute "discussion"... that simply blew their minds. Of course.

SO much stammering and stuttering. He, an apparent MS (and elder wannabe; you know, not quite "elder" material, but gung ho as all get out. I could tell he wasn't an elder, though... because he didn't - couldn't - argue... and didn't "posture" (and puff his chest out) at all); she a long-time pioneer (no, she didn't actually say that, but everything about her - age (70s), demeanor, words, zeal - and certain things she DID say gave unmistakable clues. Besides, it's a cold, rainy, Tuesday morning - only the older pioneer ladies tend to "go out" under such circumstances...).

Asked them in... and they came in ("Okay, just for a second to get out of the cold"). Knew their Bibles, they did, both. Not as well as they thought they did, though, either of them.

And... they GOT it! Based on what I showed them! Well, at least, as to ME ("I totally believe you, dear. What you say makes sense and looks like it IS in the Bible! But that's YOU - what are the REST of us supposed to do?!")

Poor dears, couldn't get them to look past either of their "golden calves" (the Bible or the WTBTS). Didn't get the impression they really wanted to.

Ah, well... the Most Holy One of Israel DID say that "His people" (Israel)... would be LOVING it, so...

    Again, peace to you all!

    A slave of Christ,

SA, who thought about telling them about the survey... but came to her senses...

Hi Shel ( love to you my dear sister),

Why is it that certain passages in the bible, when you show it to them, it looks like that have never read them before?

I planted, Apollos watered, God kept making it grow.

You aren't going to get them to admit conversion while talking to you, but you planted seeds my dear. Keep witnessing for Jesus!

There is a member of the evolutionfairytale forum who didn't see the truth for quite some time, kept arguing with them over there... but that eventually changed.

Hope there was just a little fertile ground in their hearts and minds for those seeds you planted to take root and grow! I wonder if they put you on their RV list? (Peace, dear Shelby.)

Why is it that certain passages in the bible, when you show it to them, it looks like that have never read them before?

I have found that there are a couple/few reasons for this, dear PSacto (and the greatest of love and peace to you, my dear brother!):

    1. The WTBTS tends not to focus on many verses, but either skip over them or "justify them away" in a manner that keeps the R&F from even looking at them, again. For example, "He was talking to the 'anointed'/the disciples of that day/those who opposed him"... all of which would brainwash the R&F into thinking such don't apply to THEM... and so they need not read/heed them. Which in turn, causes them to:

    2. Overlook/ignore verses that they don't believe apply to them. Don't even see them. As well as...

    3. They are blind, anyway... not having "bought eyesalve" from the One who can OPEN their "minds and hearts" to the "meaning of the scriptures"... or the reality/accuracy of the non-scriptural verses.

I mean, YOU can remove a man's hands from over his eyes with YOUR hands... but you can't make him open his eyes after you do! LOLOLOL!

Greetings, dear SOG and JO (the greatest of love and peace to you, both!)... and I hope you're both right! Some of them folks are true "die-hards", though - LOLOLOL! Funny, our Lord and I were discussing early this morning... what would some of them DO if they left? You and I (and many here!) have the wherewith all... and FAITH... to leave that "city" but not worry as to our flesh, what we will eat, and our bodies, what we will wear. We make do...

Some of them, however, what would they DO? Meetings and field service fills their time (augmented by concerning themselves with and minding others' business). Take all of that away and... what? I always worked full-time when "in"... so I was grateful to have more time on my hands. But some who left around the same time got... ummmmm... "antsy." Didn't know WHAT to do with themselves. So much time on their hands a few actually went bonkers (got caught up in all KINDS of "madness"!).

Living as a "free" people isn't easy. Not everyone can do it. For many of these, it's like being let loose after years of being incarcerated: while in the clink, folks tell you what to do as to virtually everything: when to eat, when to sleep, when to play, when to get up, when to lay down, when to march the yard... everything. So that when they "get out"... most go back because they simply cannot cope, cannot "navigate" the "real world." I belive that MANY JWs are like this... and so they stay NOT because they believe the melarkey, per se, but they don't know where else to go... what other "place" is going to demand the same "forced labor" as the WTBTS... and so they will have to think/do for themselves... and they simply can't.

Even so... it's not up to me, so if God DOES make it grow... then "Hallel u JAH!"

    Again, peace to you, all!

YOUR servant, sister, and fellow slave of Christ,

    SA

I am very careful now not to take the JW mentality with me. I don't have to witness to anyone and everyone every chance I think I might have. Whew! I can trust God to take care of it! Not only that but witnessing at EVERY opportunity really turns people off.

I love you SA! So glad to have a fellow sister in Christ on these forums and really enjoy your posts.

Shelby, they have been institutionalized. Just like you said, they have been in a dark prison for so long, coming out into the light of day could be such a sudden shock, they might go bonkers. That is the very reason I don't push my sister into too much thinking about the erroneous teachings of her beloved WTS. I realized one day that after so long an addiction to her "religion", it could do great harm to her psychologically, so I stopped my obviously open disdain. Now, I just try to drop a gentle seed here and there. I really do love her so.

Why is it that certain passages in the bible, when you show it to them, it looks like that have never read them before?

Because the Wts has always selectively choose what Scripture they want to use to support their own doctrines

and to use those Scriptures to indoctrinate their followers with. By using the question and given set answer to their teachings,

people are programed on those particular interpretations of the bible, solemnly by the WTS.

Join in on the support of those teachings or be complacently demonised by the WTS. hierarchy, resoundingly simple.
