In Genesis Jehovah tells Abraham he's going to nuke Sodom off the map, but the MORE REASONABLE THEN GOD Abraham says "Please Jehovah do not get hot with anger with me, but what if three men who are good ae found in Sodom....." etc etc. So here we have a GOD being given good, merciful advice from his servant Abraham.....personally I would rather worship Abraham, Praise his holy name...Jehovah can burn in HELL!!!!!
Abraham convinces Jehovah not to blow up Sodom....why is God such an Angry Bastard who needs advice?

Moses had a similar encounter with God.
(
Numbers 14:10-21) 10 However, all the assembly talked of pelting them with stones. And Jehovah’s glory appeared on the tent of meeting to all the sons of Israel. 11 Finally Jehovah said to Moses: “How long will this people treat me without respect, and how long will they not put faith in me for all the signs that I performed in among them? 12 Let me strike them with pestilence and drive them away, and let me make you a nation greater and mightier than they are.” 13 But Moses said to Jehovah: “Then the Egyptians will be bound to hear that you by your power have led this people up out of their midst. 14 And they will be bound to tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that you are Jehovah in among this people, who has appeared face to face. You are Jehovah, and your cloud is standing over them, and you are going before them in the pillar of cloud by day and in the pillar of fire by night. 15 Were you to put this people to death as one man, then the nations who have heard of your fame would certainly say this, 16 ‘Because of Jehovah’s not being able to bring this people into the land about which he swore to them he proceeded to slaughter them in the wilderness.’ 17 And now, please, let your power become great, O Jehovah, just as you have spoken, saying, 18 ‘Jehovah, slow to anger and abundant in loving-kindness, pardoning error and transgression, but by no means will he give exemption from punishment, bringing punishment for the error of the fathers upon sons, upon the third generation and upon the fourth generation.’ 19 Forgive, please, the error of this people according to the greatness of your loving-kindness, and just as you have pardoned this people from Egypt onward until now.” 20 Then Jehovah said: “I do forgive according to your word. 21 And, on the other hand, as I live, all the earth will be filled with the glory of Jehovah. -

It's an allegory. To the initiates who read these scriptures, Jehovah was their inner Monad, powered by a male-female energy coming from the sun and entering a microscopic point in the heart called the Atom Nous. Egos overpower and suppress this energy, therefore you have this OT god with a gigantic ego. Today we call it the Christ energy. Yes Jehovah is Christ, in Kabbalah. This is why Jehovah is a bi-polar unpredictable maniac. It represents what many of us are in our "debased" condition, functioning on two working strands of DNA instead of 12. The words are harsh but dissolving egos is a tough business.
In it's literal or what they would call "vulgar" reading the only intent is to strike the reader with fear and trepidation of this vengeful and angry god. So the stories in the Bible are actually of great value for spiritual growth once we understand that Jehovah is something internal to us. This was hidden by falsified translations, such as the Scripture in Genesis where Eve says, speaking of Cain, "I have produced a man with the aid of Jehovah". (NWT) Take out the words in bold and what miraculously happens?

YHWH was giving Abe an understanding of what was gonna happen.
God knew that Soddom's fate was sealed but He wanted Abe to understand the degree of their sin.
Abe didn't negociate with God, God allowed Abe to understand that not even 10 people could be found that were worthy of being saved.
Abe would never have realised or understood that if God and him hadn't had that little "tet-a-tet".

Witness 007: Have you actually READ THE ACCOUNT for yourself? Dang! You sure seem to make a lot of erroneous assertions in your posts. The “more reasonable than God”? You might try re-reading the account again a bit more slowly.
20 Consequently Jehovah said: “The cry ofcomplaint about Sod´om and Go·mor´rah, yes, it is loud, and their sin, yes, it is very heavy. 21 I am quite determined to go down that I may see whether they act altogether according to the outcry over it that has come to me, and, if not, I can get to know it.”
That seems ‘more than reasonable to me.’ Does it not to you? God heard things about S & G and thus decided to go and check it out to see if the things He heard were true. Sounds reasonable to me.
22 At this point the men turned from there and got on their way to Sod´om; but as for Jehovah, he was still standing before Abraham. 23 Then Abraham approached and began to say: “Will you really sweep away the righteous with the wicked?
Apparently, W007, you miss a lot of information before the conclusion you make. It is Abraham who engaged God in a conversation—Abraham isn’t accusing God, he’s merely asking questions of God. Abraham is showing what is reasonable and righteous to him, not accusing God of being unreasonable or unrighteous. God never said he wasn’t going to do what was right—au contraire.
24 Suppose there are fifty righteous men in the midst of the city. Will you, then, sweep them away and not pardon the place for the sake of the fifty righteous who are inside it? 25 It is unthinkable of you that you are acting in this manner to put to death the righteous manwith the wicked one so that it has to occur with the righteous man as it does with the wicked! It is unthinkable of you. Is the Judge of all the earth not going to do what is right?”
26 Then Jehovah said: “If I shall find in Sod´om fifty righteous men in the midst of the city I will pardon the whole place on their account.” 27 But Abraham went on to answer and say: “Please, here I have taken upon myself to speak to Jehovah, whereas I am dust and ashes. 28 Suppose the fifty righteous should be lacking five. Will you for the five bring the whole city to ruin?” To this he said: “I shall not bring it to ruin if I find there forty-five.”
29 But yet again he spoke further to him and said: “Suppose forty are found there.” In turn he said: “I shall not do it on account of the forty.” 30 But he continued: “May Jehovah, please, not grow hot with anger,
Abraham did not want to exasperate God—not that God would have been exasperated—only that Abraham did not want to do so.
but let me go on speaking: Suppose thirty are found there.” In turn he said: “I shall not do it if I find thirty there.” 31 But he continued on: “Please, here I have taken upon myself to speak to Jehovah: Suppose twenty are found there.” In turn he said: “I shall not bring it to ruin on account of the twenty.” 32 Finally he said: “May Jehovah, please, not grow hot with anger, but let me speak just this once: Suppose ten are found there.” In turn he said: “I shall not bring it to ruin on account of the ten.” 33 Then Jehovah went his way when he had finished speaking to Abraham, and Abraham returned to his place.—Genesis 18:20-33
And so, not even ten righteous could be found.
“So here we have a GOD being given good, merciful advice from his servant Abraham....”
Abraham was not giving ADVICE. Dang! Re-read the text! He as asking questions. Abraham was engaged in some rhetoric—but he certainly wasn’t giving advice.

This story of Abraham is almost as good as the one about the boy who cried wolf. Storys by goat herders for goat herders...

Ps: Speaking where the bible is silent are we?
007: that's the same impression I got when I read the first 5 books, Genesis seems to be more balanced, the rest is more blooshed and laws. I believe these are not the original accounts of Moses, they were burned and had to be re-written by Ezra.

Witness007 seems to be suffering from Dawkinsitis. It affects the occular nerve so that when reading the Bible, there is selective reading and causesthe reader to create strawmen in the form of emotional rants of no substance.

Ps: Speaking where the bible is silent are we?
Perhaps, that is interpreting does, it "speaks" when the bible is "silent".
We ALL do it.
007, is doing it, you are doing it, we all do it.
In trying to understant the context of any ancient writing we are "speaking where it is silent".
