This is my first post so please don't be too hard on me.

With ref. to the observation that the Knowledge book omits to discuss earthquakes in the study material it also omits 7 other so-called features of the last days(that are listed in the panel on p102)from the study material. So do you think it was a deliberate ignoring of the sign, maybe in preparation for the apparent 'new light', or was it just they thought "lets bang on about something different for a change, we're always going on about earthquakes"

Hell yes, couldn't have put it better myself.

The boys in writing may be stupid, but they're not dumb.

They constantly lay framework for doctrinal changes, so that they can refer to past phraseology and say, "See, we told you then."

thanks for your interesting

point. There was a watchtower article, a recent one,

which mentioned "6 lines of evidence" as a proof that

"we are living in the last days of this wicked system

of things". So it is clear that many other things are

changing and ...will be changed soon.

I'm honoured that you should choose to respond to my post as your initial posting.

I appreciate your word of caution but must agree with Lisa that "They constantly lay framework for doctrinal changes, so that they can refer to past phraseology and say, "See, we told you then."" Major changes within the organisation do not happen suddenly. Instead the ground is cleared ahead of time, the R&F are prepared for the change. Recall the "given ones" becoming the Chieftain Class as a relatively minor example.

Irrespective of your opinion on this, it's indisputable that there is a major change in the earthquakes teaching NOW. Major? Hell, yes. All previous references to the sign will have to be amended, including the WTS 'book of reference', the Insight volume which clearly states that earthquakes increase in frequency in the 'last days'. That's a clear change and it can't be doubted. Therefore any witnessing from door-to-door that refers to the sign of the end must reflect that change.

I guess my point is, What next?

Right, and that statement is totally meaningless, too. Of COURSE a "generation" (any generation) would be living when the "end" comes. Otherwise, everyone would have to be dead and there would be no need for an "end" to come! Duh!

I have also heard the watctower say they feel their organization moves in a similiar fashion to the chariot in ezekiel,to suggest that whenever they feel the "spirit" they can change course in their reasoning and thus we have"new light".This seems to me to be a very cheesey way to get out of saying they lied or are wrong about things.I find it easier to respect a person if they admit they are wrong when they are presented with overwhelming evidence then to sit back and watch them pull excuses out of thier ass.As far as the earthquake issue ,I have seen some publications that state ,alot of scripture has a literal and symbolic fulfillment though it is still up to the society to determine which is what .[:?]

Very nicely put, Ozziepost and all.So how are they also going to explain away the other point they kept using too? That the times were short because the annionted are very near to the end of their life -course and therefore the end will HAVE to come SOON as a few will obviously be left by Jehovah to see us through the first stages of the new system?!What; don't they need the annointed's help anymore?Are they SO close to 'getting It' that they don't need help in the NS now? !!!

Interestingly the Knowledge book also omitted references to holidays allegedly being just pagan although the magazines still push that notion. So something being or not being in it doesn't mean much.

Their goal is to keep the idea that the end is imminent afloat misbelieving that this impells more preaching to be done so as to draw them more members with money and support for their lives there in Brooklyn. However they've had to drop or fade out the idea that 1914 was THE pivotal date.

However, to their human "angels" or agents in the field spying on and snitching on everybody's elses privately expressed views - elders and their toadies in particular - they orally still emphasize that the Armageddon is about to hit any second and that no one being heard saying otherwise deserves any real position of responsibility.

In short they are walking a tight-rope trying to please both those who are open to the change and those who aren't because they are ultra-conservative fanatic fruitcakes. Their doing this is causing the organization to not only be stagnant but decline. They lack the courage to make true changes that would alienate maybe 20% of the tooty-fruities but then draw make that many more within a few years.

Watchtower "Angels" and Governing Body, do you not know that Revelation says Cowards do not inherit the kingdom.
