Just finished. Poignant. I saw the blonde woman on the train---I had no idea she was the real person. Very cool.
Okay the really scary part that had me screaming NO was when the boyfriend showed up at the hall and showed interest!! LOL
They certainly caught the spirit. The elder in the beard kind of drove me nuts though---but they really did a good job. I'm glad I watched it.
It was all subtitled.

An elder with a beard? Subtitled? Where did this take place? Why do I feel this movie is going to take me through ups & downs like watching a Chicago sports team? If that's the cae, I, too will be yelling at the tv.

I couldn't get the Elder Character with the beard. Since this is a movie made in Denmark...do bearded Elders exist in Denmark?
The Elders walking and presiding over a committee without wearing ties...is this a Danish thing.
But, of course I know that they will not be exactly like what goes on in the Congregations, today. The story does present a good image though of what goes on in the congregation if you don't tow the line.

There are several threads on this film, some that I posted. I will look up a few and post the links. Yes, in northern Europe bearded JW males are not uncommon. I'm a bearded JW but live in the USA ... go figure!

I found the placards displayed somewhat strange and unusual for JWs. Then I realized it was accurate (at least in denmark) having seen photos from an international assembly there with such placards being used)....

I only thought the only brothers in the USA that could get away with wearing beards were in Alaska, and that was to protect their face somewhat from the cold. Alaska and those zany brothers in California who I used to hear watched R rated movies to boot.
