You must live on a different planet than I do. There are good arguments (I don't personally agree with them) that polygamy is compatible with Christianity. I find your post sad b/c you seem to have such bad rapport with all women.
I'm Episcopalian. One day I was reading about active, noncloseted homosexuals being ordained in the United States and even elected bishop. The rest of the Anglican communion is opposed. The most conservative, fundamentalist hatred of gays is clearly in Africa. The article explained reasons for it and added that, until recently, polygamists had a special dispensation to be priests in Africa, and even some bishops. The church wanted converts so it looked the other way. As long as hardly anyone knew back in merry Old England, no one cared.
I don't like it but I agree with the inference that if it had to be emphasized only one wife, the practice had to be, in some circumstances at least, that polygamists were serving as overseers.
