So an apostabuddy wanted to stage a silent protest at the assembly hall where she was baptized. We went today. The plan was to wear these apostate t-shirts that had stuff printed on them about thinking for yourself, and a bunch of websites. So I wore the shirt proudly at the front of the assembly hall. It only took about 10 minutes into the meeting for the attendants to start converging on my row. I just tried to be all wide-eyed innocence. When I was told that my implied invitation had been revoked, I told the guy that I was just sitting there quietly, why should I have to leave. He said I was trespassing, and that they'd call the police if necessary. I was like, fine.
My buddy, carrying her infant sat down next to me. And the big, bad brothers shoved her while she was walking holding her baby, because she wouldn't leave. It was ridiculous! The brothers who insisted on sitting in our row, and the 2 that stood at the end of the row were the ones making a scene.
I don't know if it is just because I've left, but I think that assembly was the worst ever! Dry, monotone speakers, the CO in his needs of the circuit actually counseled the friends about having clean cars out in service. I can only imagine what someone visiting must have thought. He was like, it only costs a few dollars to go to a car wash. Unbelievable.
Anyway, it came time for us to be dismissed for lunch. The only thing is, no one left the auditorium after the song. That's right, everyone stayed glued to their seats to watch the drama, as 2 police officers and several janitors, er, brothers came down the aisle to escort out 2 women wearing t-shirts that dared to say that the men in Brooklyn may be wrong. So we marched out in front of everyone, I was the first one down the aisle. Most people remained seated. Several brothers stood at the end of the rows as if protecting those sitting there. No one made eye contact, although I made a point to hold my head high and look at as many people as possible. And I had on some bitchin' red boots, they matched my red apostate shirt. I must say, I was quite brazen.
Then, when we had completed our procession out of the auditorium, everyone clapped! Wow!
It was quite the experience! I feel like a real apostate now!
