    Can't even begin to explain this but it is damn cool nonetheless. Science is neat. I can see the future application now...a new Lazy Susan.

    Description from their website, Quantum Levitation:

    A thin superconductor layer (~1µm thick) is coated on a sapphire wafer. Quantum physics tells us that the magnetic field penetrates into the superconductor in the form of discrete flux tubes. The superconductor strongly pins these tubes, causing it to float in midair. This effect is called ‘quantum levitation’.

    Regular magnets can do this too (levitate) - they use it in mag-lev fast rail systems.

    I once quantum levitated a guy with a right uppercut, it was a thing of beauty ;)

    PSac...I don't doubt you did. From now on the uppercut shall be known as The Quantum Levitator....or uppercut for short.

    Outlaw..yeah your idea is better, sticking cats to the ceiling. Though still think there's Lazy Susan potential. How cool would it be to Quantum Levitate the gravy boat over to Gramma at Thanksgiving? Very cool.
