You think it's bad now? Just wait until 2011 is totally gone from the earth, and nothing of significance happens. That will be the ultimate punishment for pushing that 2011 was going to bring the Rapture or some other God-inspired end of the world--seeing it come and go, and nothing happening. That will force him to do as the Washtowel Slaveholdery did--back when 1875 came and smashed their 1874 hopes. And again when 1915 came, and so on.

It wouldn't surprise me a bit if this is the beginning of yet another end-times cult similar to the Washtowel Slaveholdery. And, it wouldn't surprise me if this cult also requires field circus, obedience to pointless and stupid rules, and its own boasting sessions in time. Perhaps the only difference between an annoying poster that always predicts that the end is coming in a certain time period and a full-blown religious cult is 20 years. Thus, I will predict that another cult will be born--that is, if anyone is still dumb enough to fall for it.

Oh, if I were to make a list of the deluded JWN posters that I don't get.

What do we know about OBVES?..

    He`s in his 70`s..

When armageddon comes he`s going to have sex with beautiful women..

He works religiously on predicting that date..When 1 date doesn`t work out he starts again..

No I don`t get it either..

I'd like to tell him to just go away, but that would be unkind (he wouldn't anyway). What we are seeing is mental illness playing out before our eyes, and that's sad. I wish he could get some help.

He is so wrapped up in having answers about the future, that he is pissing all over today.

I agree. Somehow his very identity is totally wrapped up in what he is doing. Without that to act as his crutch he wouldn't know how to exist because he wouldn't know who he is.

    Perhaps it's this.

    Who knows.

I think he truly believes that Jehovah has called him to unlock the mysteries of end times prophecies for the world.

As with the WTS leadership, his failed predictions don't deter him at all; they just make him more determined, and he goes right back to the drawing board.

He honestly can't see that he is crunching meaningless, unrelated numbers (there are 66 books in the Bible; 6+6 = 12, etc.). It reminds me of C.T. Russell's drawing all sorts of prophetic conclusions from endless meaningless measurements of the Great Pyramid of Giza.

At lost of us have tried to reason with him by commenting on some of his posts, but after awhile I concluded that all we are doing is feeding an addiction or illness, so I stopped completely. Now I simply ignore his offerings. That won't stop him or even slow him down, but at least my conscience is clear.

    Very interesting link, Rebel8...

And while reading the comments below the article, I was startled and somewhat dismayed at the number of people with schizophrenia who experienced the same delusions that one could describe as typical of many bible writers, martyrs and "saints"...

    What an eye-opener....

    I don't get Obvious, either.

I don't read posts with all caps and negativity and judgment.

    No, thanks.
