Totally remember. I recall one brother saying he was reading directly from the public talk outline, and the line was "soap operas serve Satan's purpose".
It was in the context that soap operas minimise the effects of adultery and teach women it's OK to leave their marriage if they're not happy.

I was home sick one day, flipping through all the BORING soap operas, when I heard a character say something about "Barnabas is going to become a vampire..."
I switched back to THAT soap, super-quickly!! And was hooked...
I never could stand ANY other type of soap, however - not even "Dallas"...
Many of these modern so-called "reality" shows, are actually just variations of soap operas...

Back in the 80's yeah, but that didn't stop my from watching Luke and Laura.
Yup. We had a family study about it after a WT article, or CO visit or summat (I forget which exactly) and my parents basically "reasoned" with my (pre-teen) sister and I that we should give up watching Neighbours.
Neighbours!!! hahahahahaha.....
For those that don't know, "Neighbours" is an Australian soap aimed at teenagers. It's been going since the 1980s. Kylie Minogue rocked to stardom due to the show.
There was an Awake artical about the dangers of watching soaps in the early 90's.
We had a pioneer siter that used to go home after FS to watch them.
I still watch one, & one only, & it's not Neighbours....or Home & Away...how trashy
