lol cyberjuesus....wise words indeedy
I have listened to Chopra before too...and have to say he is VERY interesting...but at the end of the day...he is selling his god, like everyone else that sells their gods...for lots of money...what was his latest book/best seller again?
Dont fall for the con-man Deepak Chopra. He use terms from quantum mechanics to dress up trivialities and inaccuracies and sell them to the gullable.
I would either go with an actual scientist, or a guru who had the intellectual honesty to not dress up his religion as science.
The Deepak Challenge: Find a person who understand QM and think Deepak is not full of bullshit.

judge for yourself.... and then think about cults and cult mentality, btw for a 3 hour interview they look pretty calmed
Undercover,
: Are either of these on the plane of Gandhi, the Dalai Lama or even a Deepak Chopra? I dunno, but in my part of the world and life, these two men, Cash and Graham, are several notches above anyone else that I can name.
If so, then we have much to learn from them, too. If not, then we should separate the wheat from the chaff.
Jesus said a whole bunch of bullshit, too, but he also said a lot of inspiring and wonderful things. Think Matthew chapter 5-7.
To others who commented:
I cannot remember once where Chopra tried to sell "God" to anyone. Perhaps he might have talked about a Creator, but I cannot even recall him doing even that. Even in his rather long lecture series "The 7 Spiritual Laws" which I listen to from time-to-time.
However, he does have his enemies and detractors, so he must be evil. Oh, wait! They crucified Jesus! And murdered Paul! And Ghandi! And Socrates! So therefore, Chopra must be evil too because he pisses off some people! Let's kill everyone who pisses off some people by preaching love and spirituality and peace and harmony and unity with the Universe! Yep. That solution will solve THAT problem.
To believe in a Creator and share that belief with others without being a crusader or killing or hurting or vilifying people who don't is exercising one's freedom of expression, and in my opinion is healthy and possibly educating.
Farkel

so what? Hitler also said good things. and fidel castro and lenin. so we judge people just because they said inspiring stuff?

Hmmm no, he sells books to the people who are in search of god....

wow the great Farkel is using a fallacy to prove a point?
"To attack somebody you don't believe in with such vigour and enthusiam . . . " . . . Chopra (on Dawkins)
And for the first half of the video . . . that's all they do themselves without an ounce of real substance. To call it irony is kind. I'm no Dawkins fan . . . but it takes more than credibility and personality attacks to get my attention. We get enough of it from the morons on here.
Free will and omniscience are logically incompatible, without severely qualifying either concept beyond it's own definition. It amazes me how some spit out bullshit that dismisses that incompatibility as if it's of no account. That's what Chopra conveniently does, and everything else after that doesn't even qualify as conjecture because it's hurdled a major inconsistency.
Regardless of whatever to the contrary ... I like Deepak Chopra ... I read his stuff while I was out there with no "Watchtower's god" (the only version of god I knew for 40 years) and kept me believing in a Higher Power and how awesome this creative force is ... I didn't know then but it fed my spirituality, and not just him ...other great thinkers too ..........Acts 10:34-35
Hey and if they make money out of their philosophies, what stop us from doing the same ... got a great idea that can make the difference in the lives of people??? Write a book, start a blog, have a TV show and reach millions ...
You know even God direct people to bring him the 10th of everything in exchange for more blessings. Malachi 3:10 -- Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.
When I was suffering from depression whatever $10 or less I paid for a book of Deepak resulted in PRICELESS benefits to me and when I started to read the bible by myself again I found many of his concepts there ...
Anyway, perhaps my point is ... Why don't we all (humans) get along? Why don't we submit to LOVE ...
Anyway, perhaps my point is ... Why don't we all (humans) get along? Why don't we submit to LOVE ...
Because the special brand of love that theists like to pander is cleverly (not always though) veiled in the concept of a supreme being to which many of us find no evidence for.
I'm all for respect and consideration of my fellow primates but do not ascribe these qualities to a divine source.
Why don't we submit to LOVE ...
I ask myself that every day. Much of the time it's because religious illusions confuse ideals and create divergence leading to conflict.
It's a generalisation I concede . . . but the religious phenomenon has been more of a barrier than a bridge to achieving it IMO.
Nothing to kill or die for . . . and no religion too. JL
