As a witness you are taught to diminish this loss as a waste of life, now we show appreciation for all those who were caught up in conflict and did what they could even to the point of death.

Ya, it's ridiculous how insane their thinking is: thousands of Witnesses can die due to their "no blood" doctrine and that's something they're proud of. Yet people who they don't even know, went off to fight and give their lives in war so that these same ungratefuls could enjoy the freedom of religion that they deny their own followers.

    Makes perfect sense eh?

Just for one second of time ,in the reign of Eward IV, it was 11,11,11,11,11, 1111.

I agree we should remember those that sacrificed so much, and still do, so I give to the poppy appeal, and wear my poppy, stuff you Witlessess, and I give to "Help for Heroes" a charity for injured service men and women.

I won't be going to the service this year, way too bust at work ( and the good and bad that comes with that).

It was nice to hear from a couple of my old buddies from the service.

    As the saying goes:

Never have so many owed so much to so few.

I did not realize that Remembrance Day in the UK and Veterans Day in the US occur on the same day. It seems that Veterans' Day is broader. I was watching American TV and they showed Murdoch's son testifying before some tribunal. He and his staff were wearing poppies but not the members of parliament.

It seems to me that with the three day holidays now, Memorial Day, Flag Day, and Veterans' Day are losing their meanings.

I recall watching very old WWI vets parade when I was old. It also strikes me that Remembrance Day is more celebrated. Maybe I am thrown off by images of the royals at ceremonies. Growing up there was the cognitive dissonance between admiring vets, particularly WWII vets, and the Witness teachings. The WT could not enjoy its rights without the sacrifice of veterans.

No one likes wars, no one agrees with wars and every soldier looks forward to the day when they will not be needed.

Till then, we give thanks for those that did and those that continue to do what they must so that we can bitch and complain in the security and freedom of our lives.
