Yes, I've started my shopping and some of the decorations are up. I'll be doing the rest soon.
I wish the US would have Thanksgiving the same day as Canada (~Columbus Day). I wish Thanksgiving was more of a holiday on its own, a celebration of the harvest. It's too late in the year and too close to Xmas for my taste. I'd like to have more time to devote to the 2 holidays.
By this time of year it's been snowing for a month here and all the leaves have been off the trees for a long time.

I usually have my stuff up all summer, and I have Christmas songs that are good enough to listen to (in lieu of the rubbish on the radio) through the year.
However, I notice that the number of houses that are lit has been going downhill since 2007. It has been very wimpy--and, when they do decorate, it is more likely to be a quickie string of lights thrown on the porch or on a bush, or a candle in the window, or maybe 20% of what they used to put out. There have been markedly fewer displays that look like either a semi-professional job or someone going at it like killing a mosquito with an elephant gun. And they are going up later, and being cut off right after the holidays.
I wonder if people are preparing for Agenda 21+ instead of the holidays.

Funny how you can enjoy simple as a Xmas Song because it was Bad to listen to......
I really enjoy it now especially so close to Thanksgiving!
