Since I left in 1990, the internet had nothing to do with it. But it has helped me to find out that I am not alone and reconnect with friends and family that have also left. For the first time ever, I have family to spend the holidays with. Yep, love the internet!

It was definitely helpful in my seeing that JWs are not the true religion but really it was the Bible itself that helped me out of the org, reading scriptures I had always taken for granted in another translation (NIV) instead of the NWT and realizing the whole JW thing is a farce and was keeping me from getting close to God and Jesus. That and the HUGE lack of love in the org. when they're always calling it a "spiritual paradise."

Granted I was scared shitless the first time I did it. Who knew what demons would attach themselves to my computer and possess me through the electronic glow of the monitor as it displayed spiritual pornography for my naive eyes.
I was already having issues, doubts and questions before I allowed myself to search on the Internet. I like to think that it just sped up my progress in finding out the lies and deceit of the WTS."

I had doubts for a long time...ever since I was a kid, really. But having the information online to read, reading other people's experiences, learning the history of the WTBTS, those things are what actually clinched it for me. I KNEW there was something rotten in Denmark, I just couldn't find the source of the smell until I started searching online.

I left before the Internet was readily available. I probably would never have became one in the first place. When I was studying I'm sure I would have done some searching around and found out the truth about the...
Back then I only had people in giving me information and i took it at face value, even in books about cults JWs were only mentioned in a minor way and not with any real conviction. Anything negative was easily explained as Satan working against gods people, being tested and other crap.
From what I've heard and read, the Internet may actually put a good dent in the org, and it reminds me to rember some poor stiff maybe reading everything I write and I don't want to scare him away from investigating further.

Searching the internett helped me to confirm some of the niggly doubts did have substance. I found lots of other issues too and swapping sides happened fairly quickly for me. I think I was only hanging in the organisation by a thread anyway.

I first left years before computers and internet were big. Rules and crazy stuff had me doubting.
But, the Internet sealed the deal for me never, ever going back.

Oprah did it for me...but then I used the internet to order a book I saw on her show off Amazon...which was about the FLDS. Their story stunk like the JW story and it was slowly downhill for me after that. But the internet fed my need for clarity and information. Now I am at the top of the mountain and won't ever go back!

My wife and I stopped going to meetings in 1988 and DA'd in 1989. No internet. We did all our research at the library. However, it is incredible to have all this information at our fingertips now.
