Why mention Sarbanes-Oxley act, why not mention Glass-Stegall, Frank-Dodd Banking Reform.
The pedophile database

From what i hear and this is coming from my brother who is in IT there are so many passwords protecting it and codes protecting the information and a system set that if an attempt is made to obtain information it will self delete all information within it.
Considerably unlikely. Unless your brother is in the Watch Tower Society's IT department, there is little reason to believe he would know the specifics of the Watch Tower Society's data protection policies. Though such information would almost certainly be password-protected, it is improbable that it's booby-trapped.

I doubt the list exists anymore. My guess is it was destroyed some time around 10 years ago. It is more dangerous to the Borg to keep it than it is not to. If it is not gone, they can claim it never existed except in the satanic minds of apostates.
If they kept such a list after Bill Bowen and Barbara Anderson blew the whistle on the pedophile scandal, the question has to be: Why? What does it do for them?

I was told it was their own internal list on par with being a convicted sex offender. They told me anyone on it was " scum" That was 80's. I just had to take their word for it.

Jeffro that is exactly where he got the information from. He spent time in Brooklyn in IT when they set up numerous databases and it was there he learned of the complex structure of gaining information and how secretive it all is.
it was one of the reasons he started to question why they hold so much information and hide it if there is nothing they could be called to the coals for.
Add to that the fact that there are two if not three sets of electronic doors one has to go through just to get into the "service dept" it makes the average person wonder what is going on, when they have to be so secretive.
Add to that the new data protection act instituted in europe and it made it even more complex as the society is now held legally responsible and financially responsible for anyone accessing information and the current laws make it mandatory that the information stored in password protected big time.
So it is not that improbable at all it is more likely they do have the capability to destroy information just as any department with up to date systems can.

Fair enough. I thought you might have been suggesting that 'because he's in IT he automatically knows their systems'. But if he was actually in the WTS IT department, I suppose it could be true, though there are still possibilities that he exaggerated or you misunderstood the technical details. Then again, the JWs are such a superstitious bunch so maybe it's not such a stretch. So it's still not something I(as a third-party) would pass on to others as fact.

Why have an embarassing database if you do absolutely nothing with the data? Destroying databases sounds tacky. Clients were told to routinely purge documents. It is a nice way of destroying them without people getting notions.
If it still exists, maybe a whistleblower might leak it. Heck, I wonder is someone with access found out things and is enjoying time at a large resort with a red Ferrari to boot. Robin's Nest is on my mind.

LOL @ BOTR!!! Another TM fan. :))
I can only think of one reason,,
When covering your a$$, you need all the information you can get. The WTS has protected these pedophiles, and in some cases, moved special pioneers from one region to another after accusations took place (and yes, I am thinking of a specific case that I know of personally). Having well-guarded records of such cover-ups will help them prepare for any legal situations arising from victims coming forward.

One thing I recall was the "list" proved they kept the Borg clean as anyone on the list was scum. It proved ( in their mind)they did something about the issue. they kept a list. The list was spoken of only to those who had need to know. I had a right to know b/c of the elder who molested me, so they told me. Otherwise I would not have been told. This was the 80's - long befoe Barbara Anderson and Bill Bowen went public with this.

Sarbanes Oxley has a provision that corporations cannot destroy emails or data that may be incriminatingand has to safely back up the files. I was wondering if the first amendment about religion or corporate law would apply to the Watchtower.
