Is being a JW that serious?

It is very serious, and is more so the more strict your parents are.

For instance, some parents are more liberal. Those are the ones that let their kids stay home from boasting sessions if they have a test or homework to do, allow them to participate in after-school events, drive around to look at the Christmas lights, and are not unreasonable when it comes to music and entertainment. The ones brought up in such households are not as likely to be severely affected, as they usually get enough experience to function outside the religion. They also think it isn't all that bad.

However, you get other parents for whom the religion is everything. Christmas comes, and they are not even allowed to look at Christmas displays. When at houses in field circus, they are not even allowed to look at the TV or whatever the householder has in the way of toys and decorations. They have to pious-sneer every vacation from school, and can't even join their classes on field trips. There are 225 135 songs they can listen to, and they cannot watch anything except videos from the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger. Sometimes, they don't even have a TV or radio. They are not allowed online, for any reason or at any time. They can't even have anything to do with outsiders except to make them become witlesses. Their careers are pious-sneering, becoming hounders, and Beth Hell. Those are the ones for whom everything is a drudgery because they are always out in field circus, even on Christmas Day.

The only problem I see with liberal parents is sometimes they don't see the harm. There is a family where I am that are liberal and when I talked to the Mom about the "control" she didn't see it the way I did. They view it more as a religion then the "truth" or a cult like view....

Welcome Skratch darling! My I be so rude as to ask that you to use capitals at the beginning of sentences and for the pronoun 'I'? Also, paragraph breaks would be great! I had a really hard time reading your post without those little 'helpers'.

    Thanks, and welcome again!

Thanks for all the welcoming my bad for all the mispunctations. I dont hate the JW but its just something that i could never fully be or commit to. If you want to commit to it fully you might aswell say "goodbye to life". But like "Anony Mous" siad the jw educaiton was good for keeping you out of trouble and building good morals in life but that can also come from good parenting. P.s i dont have unprotected sex lol and i think either from my experience of being a jw i just dont asociate myself with bad ppl in general or bad women. I kind of have the ability to see through certain people, some people you can really see what there about before you even meet them based off appearance.

Hi Skratch, to answer your question in the OP... my daughter has many phobias due to JW indoctrination. Normal kids aren't afraid of death or armageddon or demons. At least that is what I am told.

As for Christmas, I decided to let my kids watch all of the Christmas shows, because nothing wrong with watching them, right? Well of course they want all of the decorations and tree and Santa Claus. lol

I was very depressed as a JW and I am getting better and better.

    Welcome to the forum.

    Shades.

Oh, and what "A Bible Student" said, above...

"I hope that you will strive for a great education, live life to its fullest, and share your life with friends and family, who show each other unconditional love, instead of Con-Love. ..."

    Welcome, skratch!

if they did they probably wont a real jw in the first place

Think about what that statement really says. It means "We are special, we are better than everybody else. They aren't special, so they couldn't really be one of us!" This proves only the arrogance and hypcrisy of those saying it (an attitude not unique to the Watchtower religion, nor to religions in general).

You're doing well to recognize the crazy Watchtower attitudes. Just be careful, when rejecting their foolish pride, to keep enough humility to avoid mirroring that same attitude from a different extreme.
