    Ded,

While SUSCARRA is certainly right that you have been blessed, it sounds from your description of "a day in the life of Roo" that your daughter has been blessed with a wonderful daddy as well!

damn you dedalus ... now Angharad is broody and I'll have to fight her off again

She's lovely, I'd love to have a daughter but our family has nothing but lads ... and lots of older women desparate for grand-daughters, LOL.

    Hi Dedalus.

I hope you enjoy her as much as I do my daughters. She will make your life so much more worthwhile. She looks so sweet. I'm enjoying my grand daughter now since I'm too old to have another one myself. Treasure the time you will have with her, it goes so fast. I wish I could do it all over again.

Thanks, everyone! She's really quite remarkable, and I've found it amazing how much I've changed my own sense of self in reference to her -- even when she's not around, I refer to myself in the third person, as "daddy."

OK, I'll be the first to ask... why is her little hand purple???
She was born with pickled hands, the way hands look when you come out of a long hot bath, or when you're quite old. I wasn't until this week that they became smoother and the pigmentation evened out. But I believe this is quite normal with newborns.

Dedalus, who can only post now because she is sleeping!

    Dedalus:

    She is absolutely gorgeous!!

Even though I've worked with new moms and babies for the past 4 years, each and every one of these little creatures is a precious and unique work of beauty. I love my job!!

You and Mrs. Dedalus are blessed.

    Love, Scully

    Elsewhere asks:

That's quite normal in newborns. The technical term is acrocyanosis and it is due to the 'immature' nature of the newborn's circulatory system making sure blood and oxygen gets to the vital organs (heart, brain, kidneys, liver) first and foremost. It clears up rapidly with changing position of the limbs and/or gentle movements.

    Nice one dedalus!

Brings back a few memories. My daughter weighed 4 1/2 lbs ...she was about 2 weeks early. But you could put her on one hand!
