"You know you can't keep what you take by force, but it's only my first impression, of course."

‎"Oh, you crazy fools, you were livin' in paradise!!!"

The "an eye for an eye"quote was Ghandi's by the way.

I still have a hard time believing that it's been 31 years since we lost John Lennon. It feels like it was just yesterday.

"War is Over - IF You Want it"

That is a big IF! One might have thought that when the 60's generation of radical peace loving young people grew up to be ruling the World, then they would renounce the military solution and the insane arms race.............Instead, we see more conflict, more suffering and more arms.

I guess either they did not want it enough, or they become prey to the politicians propaganda...That is on both sides of the Atlantic!

I saw John as a musician, belting out musician's dreams. An important UK journalist told him he was deluded and not sophisticated. What about Hitler? Would Give Peace a Chance or Imagine stop Hitler? John replied not at Hitler's peak of power but if Hitler heard peace as an important value growing up, the Hitler we know would not exist.

I thought it was a nice answer. Of course, when he sang Imagine no posessions as he showed the absolutely glory of that mansion he was borrowing , I was stunned.

As a side note, John and Yoko appeared at a show featuring Yoko's art which featured some religious references.

The newspaper wrote a critical piece and the couple responded with a funny letter to the editor. One of my favorite quotes (I can't explain why) is highlighted below.

Dear Whoever Wrote that Hokum about Art.

I'd forgotten about people like you! Well well - you still exist, of course, in other small towns across the world. . .

...as artists, we can tell you that the "art world" is not in the 19th century, and one thing artists down the centuries have been up against is bourgeois mealy mouthed gossip from the 'grey people' (or Blue Meanies!).

Society only likes dead artists. I'm afraid Yoko (and myself) cannot oblige.

    Love anyway,

    John Lennon

    Yoko Ono Lennon

P.S. Why don't you come and see the art - I'm sure the man you think I insulted would turn the other cheek and come.

P.P.S. You forgot to mention the other man from the former group (George Harrison) who is/was a highly religious, fervent disciple of Christ, Hari Krishna, et al.
