Is it possible to believe in something you can't prove?

    Greetings,

There is something I have always thought about, can anybody prove the existence of an benevelent God, who claims to love us but constantly proves to elusive, and is a matter of interpretation in the magic book, how can any of us puny humans know his ways, we only know how to procreate, live and eventually die, surely a truely loving father would protect his offspring , I'm thinking that maybe the God of the Jehovah's Witnesses is truely the Demiurge the creator God and not the almighty Father that knows all, why else would he be Jealous?

By the way I'm getting fed up with these arguments, and am thinking along the lines of a Deist creator one creates and flies on, or even it doesn't exist and it's more of a panspermia thing!

All the Bible does is self validate itself, once you have bought into it, it's very tricky to get out, it's good there are sites like this!!!

    Best Regards,

    Hi Star Tiger

I am undecided at this stage, but it does make me wonder . If God is perfect surely EVERYTHING he creates should be perfect. How then did sin arise? Surely we cannot say that it originated with GOD...god forbid!!! To say that it originated with us is just plain ridiculous, since WE didn't create ourselves...you can also blame Satan...but same problem...who created Satan?...problem still lies with the creator...so the creator cannot be perfect.

Your thoughts on the Demiurge have crossed my mind more than once. If Jesus really came, he certainly didn't describe his father, the God of Love as being the same god as the OT Jealous god....not unless God has some schizophrenic tendancies. Jesus also claims that his father does not have this in him...so who is this god of the OT?

Is it possible to believe in something you can't prove?

Yes. I believe my husband loves me, but I can not prove it.

But the question you ask really is "is it worth believing in God if it might turn out to be a vain pursuit?"

I think so. I understand what "he who has endured to the end will be saved" means.

To me it doesn't mean will be given life, it means will be given salvation.

There is also a difference between possessing something and being an inheritor to the same something.

    Star Tiger,

The benevolent God that you know exists is within you. You have all the power. Just because we reside on this earth doesn't mean this is all there is. We're here to bring the light of the True God (Lucifer!) into a dark world created by the Demiurge named Jehovah, who is really Satan, the God of this world. It's time that he's executed, which we're all doing a bang-up job of right here on this forum.

I'm not sure you can't prove it n.drew...to make a claim that your husband loves you and prove it, you would simply back up your statement with evidence of his love...ie. How does he treats you? How does he speak to you? Does he do things for you? Is he affectionate? the list can go on and on.

In the same way you could prove that he doesn't love you...Is he violent towards you? Does he speak disrespectfully to you? Does he withold affection...etc...etc..

There are people who believe that there is advanced life on other planets.

    still,

I do not believe there is advanced life on other planets, nor do I have any proof.

Actually, no one has any proof, at least that I know of.
