It does seem stupid that you'd need an same gender escort to the bathroom but if you flip this around and make it a 20 yr old female, well, you can see why she'd want a female escort to the bathroom , not male.
I was told by a former Mormon bro that frequently Mormon guys are keeping their eyes open for potently wives while in their ministry. I guess I am not surprised, some jws do that too- date or marry their Bible studies.

Ridiculous. I couldn't even imagine dating under JW rules anymore. Even when I was a JW, I mostly got away with unsupervised dating. How can you form a bond and be yourself with somebody else there?
There's common sense and situations to worry about and situations that aren't going to lead to temptation. Maybe the fear of a judicial committee or even the smell of impropriety keeps them in fear where they want an alibi even more than the Watchtower is demanding they have one.
