Is the Watchtower so assured of its members' loyalty it can do and say as it pleases?

Never underestimate how agonizing the existential crisis is that inevitably comes upon any person confronting a lifetime, or several years or decades at least, of indoctrination that tells them, over and over and over again:

    1) They will never have to experience death!

    2) They are among the awesomely priveleged members of a chosen, clean, and righteous group of people, who have been imparted special, exclusive knowledge from a supernatural source. And everyone else in the world is going to die a horrible, inglorious death at Armageddon, which is going to happen any day now!!!!

    3) There is something severely, SATANICALLYwrong with them if they doubt anything that comes from the FDS.

TRUTHSEEKER: Apparently, they are. Sadly, they know there are certain gullible people who view them as being "holy" or chosen in some way and they eat this up like cake! But not me. I never believed anybody's divine claims. This creature worship has given them the feeling that no matter what they say, there will be certain "loyal" ones who will swallow it. I wasn't having any of it - especially their "no college" teaching. That nonsense coupled with their 1995 changed teaching on generation caused me to lose any regard for them. It was really OVER.

LHG- The 1995 Generation was really a turning point. I found it interesting that Circuit Overseers couldn't explain the reasons behind the change, they were totally blindsided by it.

TRUTHSEEKER- Great thread and really good questions you ask. I feel the WT society in using mind control tactics feels it pretty much has a hold of JW's minds so the writing committee can pretty much spin information the way they want as most all of the Witnesses are like Stepford wife bobblehead dolls nodding appreciatively at conventions for alleged " new light " information. Not that they UNDERSTAND the information mind you- but the WT society has them so well trained like you train your dog to go fetch a stick. It will just run after the stick without questioning where you are throwing it. That's how mind control works on these people. They are conditioned to accept ANYTHING the GB and WT society puts out because they are conditioned to feel like " slaves " with the WT society leaders being their owners.

It's really a twisted kind of relationship - but these Witnesses buy into it as mind control has turned off their minds. They do NOT think with their authentic , real mind. It's like they've experienced a total lobotomy of their critical thinking mind . Just how I see it

I never bought into the not having a higher education bit and was confused as hell with the over-lapping generations. That made no sense at all. Jesus said this generation as in 'one', but the GB is now saying over-lapping as in many. Some of the rank and file will say wow, what a revelation with new light, but I asked what does it mean and they can't fully explain it. This over-lapping generation thing is now like the Trinity, very mysterious.

DESIGNS: Circuit overseers blindsided??? Funny, because I wasn't. I knew they would pull something like this because they were running OUT of time. So, they had to scramble around for a feeble explanation to placate all the calendar watchers who kept wondering 'when'. This event totally ended my belief in the religion. The charade was over as far as I was concerned. But when I found out all the religion's scandals on the internet in 2000, I knew it was futile and time to say sayonara.
