I visited a congregation a little while ago. Their 'don't anybody call it a Bulletin Board For Some Dumb Ass Reason" had the Accounts Report posted.

$49 for the World Wide Work/ one month.

Are You Kidding me? 49 Bucks? I can remember when we sent a thousand or better to Cult HQ for lit and mags.

If any of you lunatics still think they don't have a cash flow problem, I suggest you check what the local yokels are sending to the Watchtower, Inc. each mouth. Often laughable.

Cash poor perhaps but real estate rich.

I can certainly see those kind of numbers giving the fact that the litature is by donation

and to the fact that the demographic age group of JWs is getting up there as well.

Back in the 60's and 70's it was quite common to see the congregation full of young families and

and people under the the age of 50. Now that number demographic has reversed itself with more people there are above

    the average age of 50.

I personally see the WTS. slowly but surely winding itself down in most modernized countries, their old and tired doctrines

which they used to cultivate and draw the publics interest is slowly losing its appreciative value base.

The recent recession may also be playing a roll on why contributions are little more less than usual.

May be but how long can they keep up the remodeling scam. Seems like every hall in the US has been done this century.

That's going to be a problem since their future seems to be more in the direction of Africa and Latin America. They're going to miss those Euros, Pounds, US, Canadian, Australian, and New Zealand dollars, and receive more Nigerian Naira and Brazilian Real in their place. I remember sometime in the late 80's my congregation "passed" a resolution to fund the Worldwide Work to the tune of $300 or $500. I can't quite remember the figure, but it was up in that area, and based on something like $10 per publisher per month. What stuck in my mind was that the money was getting "donated" no matter how much they really took in. Anything over got donated as well, and if we were short, the Society deducted it from our account anyway.

Maybe that wasn't the case for all congregations. They read a "Dear Brothers" letter from the stage that strongly suggested that we adoipted the resolution, and once it got the motion made and seconded, no one had the balls to vote "nay". Witness democracy for you.

One possible finacial boost could be the ass-emblies/DC. I know in the detroit/OH area they are using toledo for DC's.

It make NO DAMN SENSE for people from detroit to have to travel 50 miles south to toledo for a DC. I reckon they are getting some major concessions to use the facilties in toledo.

Didn't Charles Russell say something once about if the day comes when Jehovah doesn't provide the funding anymore, they'll close the doors? Maybe he actually got one prediction right. LOL.

There's a lot of things that Russell said that have long since been contradicted or overruled by the organization he founded. He's probably rolled over so many times that the pyramid on top of his grave has lost its foundations.
