1984 is such a classic. Altho there are parallels to JWs, the book skewers a broad segment of society. It is so frequently referenced. I suggest reading it if only to be literate and well read in today's culture. 1984 never becomes dated. I read it in the 1060s. 1984 was a very strange year b/c everyone was aware of how close the 1984 predictions were to secular 1984.

Having read about it and read reviews and references, the subject intrigues me.
Have just ordered a double hard cover book with 1984 and animal farm in the one binding from ebay.

Orson Welles was in the 1941 film '1984' which is probably the reason for the mistake.

Huh? That would be quite a trick for Orson Welles since George Orwell didn't write the book until 1948. The only film Welles appeared in in 1941 was Citizen Kane.
