The most amazing this about this letter to me is that they couldn't sign the letter with a proper name. It is a personal letter, talking about a very personal matter between Ray and the GB members in the meeting, yet it is still so distant and cold.

"We know we said and we wrote........" but we ain't uh gonna do what we said and what we wrote!

How does this square with the accepted definition of telling the truth?

    Oh, wait--it doesn't!

This is like a deadbeat tenant explaining why he can't pay the rent..."circumstances have changed..."

One would think it was a retail transaction. I was surprised by the writing and syntax of the letter. Ray Franz was the Big Deal who left. One would think they would find someone who could write a better letter. I know I tend to write sloppy on this forum. If I were writing that letter, I would write many drafts, let them sit, get feedback from others, and rewrite until a very polished document was left. A theasarus would be essential. Better flow would also be important. They had to know this letter would receive wide circulation. Heck, I might even consult a writing specialist at a university or publishing house and pay for the help.

What impressed me about Ray Franz was that in addition to these shocking revelations (that my mom told me from her knowledge of Bethel were prob. very true) was the lack of rage. He risked his life for this religion. When he conscience problems, he did not storm out and sit down with 60 Minutes or right wing Christian groups that despise the Witnesses. My involvement was so neglible but I still feel rage after decades. Ray was a class act.

It reinforced the authenitcity of his Christianity to me. He just did not talk a good game; he truly lived it.

Ray was a class act...He just did not talk a good game; he truly lived it.

Amen to that, BOTR. It's a shame the WTS can't be even slightly like that.
