Well I can only repeat what I said before, which is that many seasoned posters on here seem to find time for him, even though they may despair at the direction he takes with some of his campaigns. I would rather think the best of him until I am given proof to the contrary. I do think he owes a candid explanation to the question posed in the OP, but that's just my opinion.
I was initially open to the idea of him being banned if he was in breach of site rules, which seemed to be the case. However, Simon and the mods will know what is happening, and the fact that he is still allowed to post at present speaks volumes (even if he's on a final warning or something similar). I agree that banning him should be a last resort and that everyone deserves a second chance, however (as I've mentioned) I also think that the analogies with disfellowshipping are inaccurate and frankly offensive, and the direction he is taking with the JTB campaign is counter-productive to the cause I signed up for.
