JW GoneBad
NRFG says: "when people think of the name of Jehovah, they think of all of us crazy ass Jehovah's Witnesses and all the strange nonsensible things we believe in and do."
I think the word is reproach. JWs bring reproach on the name "Jehovah" by their nonsensible teachings! So the world of mankind is deterred by that name because of the senseless conduct of those who embrace it!
And yet people the world over love the name "Jesus." I hope the JWs stay the hell away from the name "Jesus"!

Are those graphs using the same scale for each of the terms? Because they seem to have a percentage rather than a number on the y-axis. Could not Yahweh simply be starting from a much lower base?
Frankly I would be surprised if Yahweh is used more often than Jehovah. I think there might be some mistake here.

Band on the Run
YHWH is used in most academic and religous books. Jehovah is a discarded, discredited name. People only know Jehovah today from the Witnesses, which is not a powerful usage. More of a dinky one.
I don't understand why the Society does not see new light concerning Jehovah and YHWH. Jehovah is manifestly wrong as a matter of fact, not opinion. Jewish usage should be important. They often act as though true Judaism never existed.
I suppose they are Christian by self-reporting. Jehovah's Witnesses fits them precisely b/c lord knows Jesus is not be found anyplace. They are Jehovists, not Christians.
A google search will find a wikipedia article with references to reliable sources. I don't know of a single academic who still backs Jehovah.
I read a lot of American and British history. During this time period, there are sparse references to Jehovah but God is the preferred usage. I'm wondering if there is a tone that distinguishes Jehovah from God. An impersonal force emerges.

If Yahweh is now many times more popular than Jehovah, as the graph would seem to suggest, it is odd that a simple google search brings up more results for Jehovah than for Yahweh.

I think from the tiny percentages that they represent the % of appearances against total words, which exceed 5 billion.
These results are based on the 5 million books scanned by Google. They don't take into account web pages or magazines. If they scanned in Watchtower magazines there would be a huge spike in the word Jehovah, but the results would be significantly biased due to the huge volumes of Watchtowers printed with a repetitive message and captive audience.
The word Jehovah rarely appears in books. It is not a very large part of pop culture. I think Yahweh gets the far higher amount due to being used in theological and historical books.

Amazon.com gives 5,098 resiluts in books for Jehovah compared with 3,684 for Yahweh.
