The thing is that Tebow's team this year (the team and their coaches, not Tebow or Jesus) simply uses unconventional plays which the other team is not prepared for. Tebow will randomly throw a ball far and hope his teammate catches it which works really well... if your teammate catches it... but it's equally likely his teammate won't catch it or in some cases it turns out bad. I don't know if you follow the plays, my gf is somewhat of a Tebow fan simply because of sportscenter and the autotune video on YouTube but he throws some really bad throws as well, matter of fact, most of the plays on the field don't have any or a small benefit resulting in many punts during a typical Bronco's game.
It's a gimmicky strategy they're using and it has surprised many the Bronco's have gotten this far with it. But that is the case in a lot of strategy games - you can get pretty far by simply using unconventional methods, I also follow e-sports and there recently was a guy that had not much experience but got to the semifinals of a tournament simply by playing a very gimmicky, unconventional almost abusive strategy after which he was beaten by people that simply outclassed him.

Never seen this one coming, crazy! There's a side of me that's rooting for Tebow now and I didn't really care for him before. Didn't really dislike him, but definately wasn't a fan especially with all the praying foolishness. I hope he succeeds whereever he goes now.
