She might be sad right now, but at least the girl has some kind of chance. Religous rights, as with all things, should not be absolute, especially when children are teh question.
If you remember when you were sixteen, you did what your parents told you, and you BELIEVED it was right, just because they said so.
I hope this poor girl isn't made an example of and bothered anymore by this. she just needs to concentrate on getting better.
The last thing she needs is to feel she's been 'raped'. If she's depressed after this, you can blame her mother. Her father, thank god, at least has his head screwed on strait.
