Mary: What's unwaivering faith?
Me: Well it's kinda complicated. They think God exists according to various beliefs, but that He is all powerful and does all that is best for everyone.
(She collapsed in laughter at this for a full 2 minutes then composed herself)
Mary: So they really think He is all powerful and uses his power to do what is best for everyone?
Me: Yeah. There are some that have a slightly different unwaivering faith, but mostly that is correct.
Mary: We have children with birth defects, right? And our news tell us about disasters and cancers and death all the time. Ask them how those birth defects and children dying is what is best for those people! And if a street thug shoots a kid with a stray bullet, that's supposed to be best for the kid and his family, right? Ask them if they know how to even tell me which of those "various beliefs" or slightly different unwaivering beliefs is the right one without starting an argument amongst themselves.
Me: you're right.
I know, it doesn't fit perfectly. It's way over-simplified and only a moron would accept that such a conversation wasn't just some fake thing floating around the internet custom-tailored to fit this forum: http://www.landoverbaptist.net/showthread.php?t=73133
