Sigh....dude sounds like Lars, Stopthetears, JWdestroysWT and OBVES all rolled into one. Judicial clerks bought off? Email snooping by JW employees at google and yahoo? JWs at Chase bank part of the conspiracy?

Exactly. There's a side of me that's happy this case is over with considering this is now one less tabloid apostasy story floating around.

I don't know enough about the case to really comment, but sounds like the WT legal machine does what it does best...wins.

Considering their legal machine went against some ex-JWelders associated with a guy who sounds like Lars/Stopthetears/JWDestroysWT & OBVES all rolled into one, the outcome couldn't have been any other way.

I for one have been following this case since the beginning and feel like saying a hearty THANK YOU to Ex-JW.com.

The work they have done on this case is amazing. And thanks to Mr. Steele are due as well. He has been trying to defend these innocent brothers against a massive publishing empire with almost unlimited resources.

Hopefully more of the full story (and substantiations for the many incredible allegations) will come to light.

As the editor of Ex-Jw.com I have been very close to this case since the beginning, but have never been able to meet with any of the principals of the case. I have another article coming up within a few days that contains the court documents of the depositions of the former CEO/COBOE of the Menlo Park Kingdom Hall. I think you will find an entirely different perspective on the events and individual actions by both the plaintiffs and the defendants.

Yes, as I was doing some editing on the article, I thought that Mr. Steele's presentation of the case may have been a little over the top and leaning a bit much toward picturing the Watchtower as the "Evil Empire." But that is his point of view and he has been shoulder to shoulder with the plaintiffs ever since the beginning. So his is a unique perspective. You can see his frustration in the progress of the case and its final resolution.

But please remember, this case is not really over. For now it has just moved over to the state courts. There is much more ahead for everyone involved.

Thanks for the update JV. From skimming the article the claim of "termination" made it sound like it was dead in the water. Will look forward to reading the depositions.

The case as it was origionally filed is dead.

The plantiffs have now amended the complaint to add the crimes that have been commited since the origional fileing, as well as seeking punitive damages for the additional crimes of Defamation, Slander, and identity theft. Legal fees are also sought in the amended complaint which is now filed with the Federal Appelet court.

Mistakes were made in the first complaint. The Plantiffs pulled some punches in an efort to resolve the dispute in house and not risk getting DF'ed. The WT took this as a sign of weekness, which Smith exploited to terminate the case. The biggest flaw in the origional case is that the Plantiffs were not seeking monatary damages. The new complaint remadies this, and other mistakes, and oversights have been addressed as well.

Yes, Jason has a parallel case working its way through CA Superior court, but Jason's case is not the same as the federal case.

Rumor has it that the WT has all ready spent 100's of thousands of $$$ getting this one seemingly "worthless" case terminated. At the setelment hearing the defendents admitted to having racked up $80K in legal fees so far and offered not to counter sue if the Plantiffs dropped the case. The Plantiffs called their bluff. Now, no counter suit has been filed. This should tell you somthing.

If I am inocent, and I have to spend $80K on a lawyer to prove it, you better belive I am going to counter sue for the $80K, but nothing from the WT! NOTHING!!!! What does that tell you????

It doesn't surprise me, JW nurses, legal assistants etc. have been instructed before to collect confidential information on other JW's: http://articles.latimes.com/1987-08-27/news/mn-4504_1_jehovah-s-witnesses

    w87 9/1 - A Time to Speak: When?

There may be occasions when a faithful servant of God is motivated by his personal convictions, based on his knowledge of God’s Word, to strain or even breach the requirements of confidentiality because of the superior demands of divine law. Courage and discretion would be needed. The objective would not be to spy on another’s freedom but to help erring ones and to keep the Christian congregation clean. Minor transgressions due to sin should be overlooked. Here, “love covers a multitude of sins,” and we should forgive “up to seventy-seven times.” (Matthew 18:21, 22) This is the “time to keep quiet.” But when there is an attempt to conceal major sins, this may be the “time to speak.”

Matter of fact: I have been asked myself to provide sensitive information regarding Internet usage of a brother when I worked at a major ISP (not in the US). It was used by the elders to convict him.

It sounds as if he is doing a good deal of extrapolation in this, as to the Watchtower's power and influence.

If there is any truth to the claims about Witnesses employed at corporations violating customer privacy - and if they can be identified - they are in a lot of trouble - like job loss and possible legal action.

Even if a court didn't prosecute such behavior, a simple letter to their supervisors could cause a lot of trouble. If anyone KNOWS of such a violation of confidentiality, I would encourage you to take action or post it.

Currently, the US seems to be the 'Wild West' as to document fraud, no matter how massive, with JP Morgan (credit cards), Bank of America (Robo-signing mortgages) and very possibly President Obama. Watchtower lawyers may be very aware of what legal violations rarely get prosecuted.

    Mous,

That does not supprise me at all. There is a JW clerk in the CA court it Redwood City that tried to convince Jason not to file his State Court case. This individual is known to be good friends with Defendent Brede who served as an Elder it the RWC congregation where this clerk attended. From a Legal standpoint, this clerk should recuse herself from handeling any of the issues with regard to this case, but she has not. In fact she has been activley spying for Smith, miss handeling schedualing court dates, and perhaps even "loosing" fileings.

When exactly does a Conspiricy Theroy stop being a theroy? That line is getting blered.
