I don't believe in a trinity but neither do I believe Jesus is an angel (including archangel). He is the only begotten son of God, meaning he was not created. He is a part of God, begotten by God, son of God, which makes him divine. The same likeness of God, just as we are human in the likeness of our parents.

I tend to believe that the Son was the first creation by God (King) and perhaps the only creation by God alone. The rest of creation is like grandchildren, created by the Son of God, the prince.
That's the sense I make of Revelation 3:14

"And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God:" (ASV)

New International Version (NIV) has an interesting translation that some other versions translate similarly:
“To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:
These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation.

Although I reject the Trinity doctrine, I believe the prince was made king (God), our God, the mediator to His Father after his resurrection and ascension.
The scripture Hebrews 2-5 says (NRSV):
"having become as much suprior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs."

Zeroing in on the verbiage, it explicitly says he became superior to the angels.
It says he inherited the name more excellent than the angels.

When you become something, that means you were something else before you became what you became.
When you inherit something, it previously belonged to someone else (e.g., a parent(s) ) and it was bequeathed to you. You don't inherit something that is already yours.

Therefore, my conclusion is that the Son, the prince, is now divine (became divine by inheritance), appointed by the Father to be our God and King, sitting on the throne at the right hand of His Father.
He inherited the title from His Father, and as such He is our God and our sole mediator to His Father.

This is how I think many people confuse Christ's divinity and inherited rulership with a Trinity.
