I find the ruling odd too, a 12 yr old can decide if they will die for this religion but cannot vote, join military or consent to sex ( can't consent to have sex with someone nor can parents sign to allow them to marry someone ).
I think the problem in this type of case is that the judge has no idea that there is no such thing as not consenting with the Watchtower. A jw kid is coerced into making such a decision from fear of losing family, friends, and God's love.
