If we lose a few hundred oh well

Wasn't there a quote in one of Ray's books where a GB member said something to that effect? They were going to change a policy ("new light" lol) and I think it was Grant Suiter who said, "If we lose a few hundred oh well we'll gain lots more from this!"

I have both books (hardcopy and PDF) and tried to find it but couldn't.

To me it really illustrates how little they care about individual members, "the little sheep" of the flock, and more about number$. Like when a suggestion was made back in the 1970's to shorten the meetings and Henschel says, "well what are the publishers going to do with the extra time? Just watch TV."

You're just a number. That should be clear by now.

I only read CofC so I don't remember where these quotes came from. But when you mentioned about having extra time and just watching TV it reminded me of when I started my fade over 11 years ago.

It was early in the winter and I was delighted to stay home and watch TV - as opposed to going to the hall when I am dead-tired after a day of work and hardly being able to keep my eyes opened. When it was over I would have to drive home on a cold dark night. Who the hell needs that??? I remember once being so bone-tired I forgot a totebag with valuables. I was in a state of panic and was ever so grateful my belongings were still there. That just goes to show what a waste of time it was to even attempt to go to an evening meeting when I was in that condition.

Maybe TV isn't all that valuable, but I cannot begin to express my gratitude for the peaceful and free feeling I had when I started my "fade" and stayed home from the meetings. It may have felt a little odd at first because I was breaking a long habit. TV was my friend, along with a lot of reading 'til I could get my head together.

love the quote on Henschel. Yes we are all just mindless drones who watch TV at every opportunity. We also can't be let out during the rain because we'll just drown like turkeys

If there is a bigger waste of time than going to the Kingdumb Hell, I haven't found it. True, the mainstream media leaves much to be desired. True, they lie (8.3% unemployment that is closer to 22% when everyone is factored in). True, they mumble about nothing and intentionally make you waste half an hour trying to find a story you like (like the Weather Channel).

But getting this rubbish is better than the rubbish you find at the Kingdumb Hell. If you are going to do nothing to prepare for the coming global enslavement, that is better than wasting your life pious-sneering and attending boasting sessions. At least you have had the use of that little time before enslavement, rather than wasting it in field circus. Besides, if you do nothing more consequential than making sure you have at least one decent LED lantern with rechargeable batteries and a battery charger, or get a single silver dime, or learn a simple skill, you will be that much better off than the person that wasted his life at the Kingdumb Hell, getting nothing and learning nothing.

@Longhairgal - So true- Good for you!

@wha happened - Yes that is their loving care upon us- we are drones after all. Not all GB feel that way, but he certainly did, such a pity...

@WTWizard - It can be a drag but I don't know if I feel it's that bad lol. But I certainly respect your feelings on that front.

So hmmm no one can find that quote yet about "losing a few hundred"? I just wanted to confirm that it was really in there- I'm fairly sure it is but can't find it...

I just finished CoC not too long ago and I don't remember a line like the one you describe. Not saying it's not there... just don't remember it. Franz did mention something about the GB voting down a change to the alternative service (military) policy because they were afraid of the reaction they would get from so many having already endured prison time for their current position.

I remember in the book " Crisis of Conscience " Ray said that Ted Jaracz commented that , " the needs of the organization take priority over any individual needs of the brothers and sisters. " Something to that effect. Pretty sick and twisted if you ask me

Rutherford said something similar - it was all wrapped up with the Universal Sovereignty thing and I noticed at least a couple of instances where he said the individual was of no importance - only the Organization was. If I find a quote, I'll post it.
