I wrote a spoof article based on King Eglon being smited while "easing nature" and King Saul having his robe cut by David while "easing nature" as "proof" that "easing nature" was not for True Christians™. It's exactly the same Logical™ train of thought for the ban on birthdays.
Can anyone prove that birthday celebrations are forbidden by God?

Scenic Viewer, yes it does. It is basically saying "so what if we are wrong, its your job to obey until told otherwise"

LOL Scully, I love that. I should use that on JWs.

@Scully: A fitting article! May Jah prove to always be with us as we keep our bodies free from defilement. For those of us tempted to take a shit, may Jehovah provide the strength to "prairie dog" it, and then finally vanquish the urge to "ease nature".

mP:
I fail to see what do those 2 verses you quote have to do with astrology and YHWH.
(Please read footnotes).
The zodiac depicts what is visible in the skies. This is astronomy and nothing to do with astrology.
(Wikipedia may prove helpfull: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zodiac)

@NoLaw
In the past there was no astronomy, looking at the heavens was only done to read gods will in the stars. All the other related sciences, Maths and Astronomy only were studied to help the ancients undestand astrology. If you look at all the ancient great Astronomers they only did it because of Astrology, none ignored the zodiac, there was no pure astronomy. Even today trigonometry shows its roots, there are 360 degrees in a circle because they believed there were 360 days in a year.
JOB 38
Feel free to read the remainder of Job 38, but i have included the key scriptures below. It is quite clear that God says controls the influences of the Zodiac.
Job 38:31-32
Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind , and said,
...
Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades , or loose the bands of Orion?
Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_astronomy
Astronomy is the oldest of the natural sciences , dating back to antiquity , with its origins in the religious , mythological , and astrological practices of pre-history : vestiges of these are still found in astrology , a discipline long interwoven with public and governmental astronomy, and not completely disentangled from it until a few centuries ago in the Western World (see astrology and astronomy ). In some cultures astronomical data was used for astrological prognostication.

One of the subjects that Copernicus must have studied was astrology , since it was considered an important part of a medical education. [54] However, unlike most other prominent Renaissance astronomers, he appears never to have practiced or expressed any interest in astrology. [5
mP: Notice the quote, many other astronomers were astrologers...
However the citation says, he did...

Upper Austria Fields http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tycho_Brahe
He moved to Prague in 1599. Sponsored by Rudolf II, Holy Roman Emperor , Tycho built a new observatory in a castle in Benátky nad Jizerou , 50 km from Prague, and worked there for one year. The emperor then brought him back to Prague, where he stayed until his death. Tycho received financial support from several nobles in addition to the emperor, including Oldrich Desiderius Pruskowsky von Pruskow, to whom he dedicated his famous "Mechanica". In return for their support, Tycho's duties included preparing astrological charts and predictions for his patrons on events such as births, weather forecasting, and astrological interpretations of significant astronomical events, such as the supernova of 1572 (sometimes called Tycho's supernova) and the Great Comet of 1577 . In 1978, notes from Margaret Mitchell ’s library revealed that she had based each character from her classic prize-winning novel, Gone with the Wind (1936), including the central star-crossed lovers, Scarlett ( Aries ) and Rhett ( Leo ), around an archetype of the zodiac. [72] In 2010, a detailed personal horoscope analyzed and illustrated by J.K. Rowling at the time she was writing her first Harry Potter novel , came up for sale. The auctioneer commented that Rowling “displays a detailed knowledge of Western astrology which was later to play an important part in her books". [73]
In politics, in 1981, after John Hinckley's attempted assassination of U.S. President Ronald Reagan , first lady Nancy Reagan commissioned astrologer Joan Quigley to act as the secret White House astrologer. However, Quigley's role ended in 1988 when it became public through the memoirs of former chief of staff, Donald Regan . [75] [76] [77]
Many leaders today still follow astrology. Masons etc still believe astrology is a gift from some divine one to help us, thus the saying "as above, so below". What most people do not realise is that Harry Potter is the story of Jesus retold. Many of the events, of Harry are copies of Jesus.
Astrology is nonsense but its everywhere. Its heritage is everywhere we go. Its only recently that we have become educated and most of us ignore the or disbelieve astrology. The same is also true of the Bible. It wasnt that long ago, that all westerners really believed it without question.

Argument against "Self Glorification". If one is using that as a principle, you certainly cannot condone celebrating an anniversary where not one but two people are "praised" for another year together. Also, don't forget to throw away those pagan wedding rings.
