Steven Unthank: What do we really know?

  People who earlier this year supported Steve Unthank have now backed away big time. The man has shown himself embarrassingly incapable of sticking to the evidential facts. Have you read the document he prepared for the Courts? It's cringe-making in its hubristic pronouncements. Little wonder, Mr Unthank has got off-side with politicians in the state of Victoria, Australia. Trawl through some of the ealrier posts and you'll see the way in which support for this man has dwindled to a few people who have concluded he is on a special mission from the Lord. he and Rick Fearon need to get together to slug out which of them is the more divinely-appointed. To the ignorant, both men are equally divinely-appointed, but to those with even a few active brain cells in the prefrontal cortex, both men are derisibly deluded.

  This was a post on that thread. Well folks, after reading that old thread from 8 months ago, I have to declare BS. He was smart enough to wait a number of months, but old threads do re-appear.

  All elders in OZ now have to apply for a criminal records check. That will make congregations a little bit safer, cause some elders to resign and make it harder to recruit new elders. That is a success.

  I agree SBC. Whether they drew it from the actual child, or a photo of the child, he still claims it was a recent rape victim. Now the pictures and captions change because we're posting it.

  And, what do we know about you, negative posters? Absolutely nothing. Yet, we are supposed to believe you are really former JWs and are not happy with the JW religion because you said so. How do we know but that many of you are JW apologists working your negative "magic" on this discussion board for years?

  However, many of you know me personally or can find out about my life easily enough as I've told my story enough. Yet, I have found my credibility called into question regularly by some on this board. I've been investigated by the best and the worst and no one can find any dirt, so some try to call my work into question by other means.

  I've said this many times, I post information. I posted the Steven Unthank information when I first heard about it. I was attacked then. Now that the government failed to prosecute the WT for not abiding or adhering to the WWC Act, very adroitly some posters are mentioning my name in a negative way, or some photo I have on my website in a negative way, which I don't even know what photo is being addressed.

  I spoke to Steven just about an hour ago and he was stunned to hear what is being said about him and the photo he posted. He explained to me what the word "image" meant to him, and I explained that in the context he used, it came across badly. He said he'd fix the problem on his website. etc.

  For what it's worth, and to some my words mean nothing, but Joe and I absolutely treasure our friendship with Steven Unthank. I've never thought he had any "excesses," but is one of the most totally honest person that anybody can come to know. Maybe we are mistaken in our regard for this young man, but for now, until proven differently, we stand with him.

  And we agree with the poster who said: Listen to yourselves! Goddammit, are you questioning whether this case was even legitimate? Sometimes I feel that the ex-JW community are worse than the damned JWs, nitpicking each other to death over trivialities! This is like chickens pecking that one chicken to death because of a feather out of place!

  Joe and I would like to add: With friends like some of you, who needs enemies!

  For those on this board who want to know the facts, we suggest you listen in tonight to Richard Rawe's Dialogue program and talk to him yourself. Then make up your mind if he is legitimate or not.

  Fearon, Unthank and Anderson all show disturbing lack of judgement in my view, although admittedly to varying degrees.

  Interesting that unlike everybody here . . . these people are actually DOING something . . . rather than just sitting on the sidelines looking for the first "lack of judgement" to pounce on. With all of the coaching from here, I'm sure a perfect performance is "just around the corner" LOL.

  About a week ago I was sent a pencil drawing of a young girl crying. (see above) The picture touched my heart and the pain of this child’s helplessness made me too shed a tear. The image came from the family of a young rape victim in the Traralgon Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. I do not know where the picture originated from. The drawing did not look like their child in anyway. I decided to use this picture as an “image”, not just to represent the abuse inflicted upon this families child that I have grown to care for, but for all the children. Last night I posted the image on this web page and described it as ”an image”. I used the phrase “image” to describe the drawing in the sense of a ‘mental image’ and a ‘representation’. Many people have been offended by my use of this drawing.
  
  When it comes to child abuse within the religion of Jehovah’s Witnesses there is a common pattern I have noticed among many of those who protect the religion and it’s leaders, sometimes even over the children…as long as the children remain nameless and faceless then those who share in these sins by covering them up believe that they themselves can remain blameless. These children have names and faces.
  
  Personally attacking me over my standing up for the children does not wash away your liability, your guilt, or your sharing in the sins of others, if you yourself did nothing. There is such a thing as community fault. You’re conscience is now either accusing you or excusing you. It will never acquit you. Take a good hard look at the face of the child in the above picture and then take a look at yourself in the mirror.
  
  If your child or a child you love was ever raped or abused or mistreated I would also stand up for you and for this child if needed. I pray that it never happens. I did stand up while many of you sat down. I sacrificed 3 years and 8 months of my life and several hundred thousand dollars standing up for the children, yet I have no children of my own.
  
  Today, tomorrow, and for all eternity the sun will rise every day upon the good and upon the bad. It shows no partiality. It is my prayer that the sun will make you happy. It has brought me great joy in my life.
