There's usually a lot of pretentious brown nosing during the CO visit.
He's lauded as someone with even more spiritual power than the elders so his presence makes for even more nervousness.
Of course the previous announcing hype helps this along.
The elders are also put under pressure because they get evaluated on their performance upon the performance
of the whole congregation. They do look at the numbers for hours put in and bible studies in operation as well magazines placed and so forth.
My congregation PO at the time was seemly well off so he always drove a brand new Cadillac or Mercedes and it was known that the CO
would stay at his house and it was also known by close insiders that he and his wife were taken to the best restaurants in the city by the PO.
Lets not forget that there are elders who would like to climb up this lofty position
in the WT organization for themselves, thats another reason for the brown nosing.

Outlaw makes a good point though, you think there's alot of pretentious smiling going on normally at
Kingdom Halls, this gets cranked up even more during a CO visit.
For any of those that still attend didn't they (WTS.) abolish the COs a year or so ago ?

The enthusiasm for the COs visit is like a brief sprint.
Then everybody has to stop and rest, with at least half the congregation being absent, elders on vacation, for the week following his visit.
Then the next week, it's back to same old, same old.

For any of those that still attend didn't they (WTS.) abolish the COs a year or so ago ?
No they are still going strong. There was a rumour a couple of years ago they were being phased out but it never happened. We still have one more visit from David Rastell before he retires to his home in Rochester and is replaced.

Co visits are like visiting friends / family no one really likes but a good face is put on while thinking when are these assholes going to leave.

I hated the CO's visits because I always felt I never did enough. Having been raised in the truth, I was a MS at a young age but I always held back a little not to become an elder. The CO always wanted to know what was holding me back...guilty conscience or secret personality flaws...
The last CO we had was a real dick. He and his wife were right out of the 70's with their hair styles and dresses. He was obsessed with the sisters cleavage and tight tops...His wife was dressed like a Mennonite. At that time I was taking care of the accounts and the previous CO commended me for the great job I did - he had never seen the accounts so well organized. This new CO dick pointed out an error of $0.11 - where I had sent the amount under Worldwide Work instead of the Kingdom Hall Fund...The money still went to the WT! He told me that I should be more careful with the accounts, but not in such a nice way. From that time I started thinking about stepping down and a few months later I did and I was no longer around at his next visit.
