I'd like to work toward ensuring that the WTS bans pedophiles from sharing in the door to door work out of consideration for the public. I'd like to ensure that this ban applied not just to those who have been convicted of pedophile activities but also to those who have secretly confessed to elders.
Would this subject be appropriate for an e-petition?

How long would the ban stay in place? Decades? Would you feel differently if the child abuser (who has been brought to justice, tried and sentenced and served his sentence) had to always have another witness with him when he went door to door.
Child abusers should not be able to go door to door, or partake in any other activity where children may be present even if someone else was going door to door with them. If you do start a petition, let me know and I would be more than happy to sign and to let others know so that they can sign too. Good job, and thanks for your efforts!!!
Forgot to add: I was sexually abused when I went door to door by myself in the late 1950s early 1960s as a young child (as I remind posters, that was back in the "good"old days when it was not unknown for JW parents to send their young ones out in the ministry placing Awake! magazines).
Wow, Steve, I am really sorry that you were the subject of abuse. I hope that you are healing from the damage it caused you. It is sad to think of how many people over the years have had to deal with such horrors. All the best to you!
They should go door to door, everyday, 8 hours a day with a sign on them that says: "I'm a
child abuser".
Either that or cut off their genitals and throw them back in the cong.

steve, ideally the ban would stay in place forever. If this is successful then the WTS would need to overhaul how they conduct their ministry generally and i believe that there is a pressing need for this. Plus child abusers should be banned from the door to door work completely. They shouldn't be allowed to participate even if another witness accompanies them.
In theory there is ample opportunity even now for jw children to be abused on the ministry. For example close friendships with JW youngesters can be formed and consolidated on the ministry and this can lead to greater intimacy. But it would be much harder to ask the goverment to regulate within the congregation and amongst JWs themselves. But I think the public interface has a chance of success.
