by and far most JW's are sincere. They are taught and conditioned to do what they do. I dont' give them a free pass, but they don't make up this stuff, they just accept it way too easily and believe it.

I totally agree with you! My main beef is with the Org. itself, and not the JW's. I just consider them misguided as I once was. The only time I would hold it against JW's personally is if they intentionally hurt another, are Child abusers, or if they condone, hide, or fail to mention it to the authorities.

While it sucks that they shun us, I try to realize that they are doing what they think they are supposed to, and I can't throw stones because I used to shun people too while I was in. It's unfortunate, but it is what it is until the time comes that they hopefully decide to open their eyes and see the truth for what it really is.

The apostles and those whom they anointed had holy spirit, when that generation died off the gifts of the spirit ceased. That means the 144,000 was completed then fro the heavenly work Yesuah gave then. Many fled to Pella at Jerusalem's destruction, formed a community there, and the disciples from Galilee spoke Aramaic as the Messiah did. They were not off-shoots of the Roman church, yet they did study the "Apostolic Father's" writings in connection with the later canonized writings. They all had the holy spirit including those who wrote down the words of the apostles. Can WT claim any of this? Or does hiding these facts suit them better? Can WT still try to stretch the org, the anointing and it's writings as the one and only truth? No. Truth is, truth is in heaven, and WT is the Devil's trickery! To keep honest people looking to NY for Jesus, instead of to the heavens since he's invisible. All we'll see on earth is elders sucking up all the praise and glorifying their wives, children and pioneers. Calling Jehovah's name in vain with a mispronunciation, won't make it any more the truth. This completely fake religion is a totally disgusting thing in Yehuwah's eyes! You want truth? Read up on world history in the time of the apostles in the Jordan and Syria, the Early Church Fathers, and Bible concordances from acclaimed scholars. No more WT P.R. spin; po-lee-se!

AllTimeJeff - In the OP you said the following:

I have nothing to gain by saying this, it's simply the truth.

Hold on a minute here! You mean to tell me that since you left the JWs, you are not looking to gain followers to start your own religion?!

I thought that's what ALL apostates did! LOL!!!

ATJ, in all seriousness, thanks for your openess and honesty. I love reading your threads.

One thing that got my attention recently was another flip-flop doctrine regarding the "Mark of the Beast".

On page 203 of the "Revelation Its Grand Climax At Hand " book states:-

    some even being tortured
and killed, because of their refusal to compromise
    their Christian neutrality. In other
lands Christians are literally unable to buy or
sell; some are unable to own property; others
are raped, murdered, or chased from
their native land. Why? Because in good
conscience they refuse to buy a political party
    card
    . —John 17:16.

    See: http://www.jw-media.org/rus/publications/re_e.pdf

On the official Jehovah's Witnesses site, it now mentions:

Some believe that 666 is the mark of the Biblical antichrist. Others say that it signifies some form of compulsory identification, such as a tattoo or an implanted microchip with a digital code that identifies the person as a servant of the beast.

    ...

These fanciful and contrived interpretations, however, are very different from what the Bible itself says about the mark of the beast

    http://www.watchtower.org/e/20040401/article_01.htm

The Revelation book says the mark can be a compulsory (political) identification. Yet their online article says the same interpretation is "fanciful and contrived".

I'd also like to note, my job involves website optimization. A few tips.

    1. Link directly to official Jehovah's Witnesses sites. (They record visitors, and referrers).

    2. Don't use abbreviations such as JW, CO, PO, WTBS. Search engines are better at indexing words than acronyms.

They talk about 'present truths', 'new light' etc. But surely the truth is the truth and it cannot change. Only lies can be changed to fit.

If something is 'new light' now, then the 'old light' has been discarded and replaced. Yet at one time that also was 'new light'. It is all totally illogical.

We are told to 'wait on Jehovah' if something we are told to believe doesn't make sense (like the overlapping generation). But why would Jehovah allow something so ridiculous to be taught if he was 'feeding' us through his 'earthly channel'?

And something that hit me hard was Luke 21:8 "many will come on the basis of my name saying 'I am he' and 'The due time has approached'. Do not go after them"

"Fear keeps you from the truth. It doesn't lead you to it."

Such a simple statement... yet very powerful...

    thanks AllTimeJeff!

Be honest with yourself, and be willing to look at the evidence, no matter what it may show.

Last Sundays WT study was about "Bible truth" and being willing to face it , even if it proved uncomfortable.. Of course dubs do not do that . I did not do that.

I went through a time as a young person , pre internet days, when I questioned things and eventually decided to take up the religion that I had been taught as a child. Was my motive after that continually testing it for truth? No. I had made my choice and that was that . When your whole life and family revolve around it you certainly do not want to have it shaken by awkward questions. Any discussion with outsiders was an "us against them" debate and if they did not accept us, we moved on elsewhere .

There were several things that did not add up, prophetic patterns, chronology, no birthdays or Christmas, the railing against rock music etc etc but I accepted that somethings were still to be resolved , and carried on...Why? Predominantly because it was the life I wanted and once I was in it, the way of least resistance.

I am sure that this is true of most of them..........
