My wife and her aunt are pretty upset. They said at the last couple of meetings for service and congregation meetings the elders kept announcing they want 100% participation and even had attendants passing out applications. My wife and her aunt are pretty hardcore and were considering aux pio, but the incessant push actually turned them off. Thanks BOE.

No Room For George
A brother I know who signed up told me that he should be hitting his 30 hours by his own estimations either this Thursday or Friday, at the latest on Saturday. He told me that after he hits it, he's not going out for the rest of the month. I gotta kick out of that as it reaffirmed for me that for many JWs the ministry is about quanitity, not quality. Most could care less about sharing any so called good news, they just want to make their time.
At our congregation, the enthusiasm for this special month of activity has clearly declined since last year. We had like 40 something last year, this year we have a little over 20. I didn't sign up for it last year, and ditto for this year too. To me this whole special month of activity is disrespectful to those who auxilliary pioneer throughout the year periodically, and it shows just how trivial pioneering is in itself anyway. It's like giving people a coupon for one month in the year so that they can have a title and feel special. It's ridiculous to hand out a title based on triviality, and pioneering in itself is non-scriptural and adding to the word, and creates class distinctions in the process.
By the way, you ever notice that Regular Pioneers, Auxilliary Pioneers, and those that dont even make the national average in hours, all end up with exactly the same results? That being, zilch?

NRFG - One of my JW relatives is doing the same thing, getting his 30 hours in by this coming weekend. He doesn't want to participate in the special campaign starting later this month, so he's getting his time in and then chillin' out the rest of the month.

Sic Semper Tyrannis
It's all about pressure and guilt trips. The Service Dept pressures the COs, the COs pressure the local elders, and the elders apply it to you. If they don't have the numbers they want, they resort to passing out applications and constantly reminding people from the platform that there's still time to apply. It never worked with me. I saw through what they were doing and thought "what nerve?!"

Doubting Bro
Interesting. My congo has about the same number as last year (78 this year, last year it was around 82 I think). Percentage wise, it's similar because there were more publishers last year vs this year due to a few folks moving away.
The pressure was really ramped up with attendants handing out slips to people. They handed me one and I handed it back. My wife took hers and then threw it away.
I expected that the results would fall way off and was surprised that it didn't here. But, I'm encouraged to see everyone else's poor results. You would have thought that it would have been more gradual of a decline.

My mother breathlessly told me about it the other day.
Mom: "Did you hear about the special 30-hour auxiliary pioneering arrangement?"
Me: "Oh, right...you did that last year too, didn't you?"
Mom: "Well...yes...we did."
Me: "Good for you."
I felt bad taking the wind out of her sails; she is so eager to tell me everything and anything about JW-related topics as she holds on to the hope that I will return. But come on, JWs! Such short memories! This will become a regular thing, and by next year none of you will remember when you didn't have 30-hour pioneering in April. Then some other minor change in your Theocratic TM routines will get you all excited and breathless and happified. Sad.

That's funny just now thinking I did see a lot more cars parked for FS last year. They park at the Rite Aid I pass every day. They had a few move ins but I hardly see lots of cars these days

The only people not expected to do field service are those under restrictions because of conduct.
Ummm......I've never heard of a restriction short of being disfellowshipped that would disqualify someone for field service. Hell, they even let known pedophiles do that.

I did it a couple of times...Was it for 60 or 75 hours? I only remember that it seemed like a lifetime !
There is nothing more soul-destroying than going out in "the work" for the sole purpose of putting a figure on a slip of paper. I knew it was a pointless man-pleasing exercise that I only agreed to because my arm was twisted since they decreed that all the elders should do it. I was not fooling God, I was not helping anybody, I was just selecting R V's and Not-Homes at furthest points in the territory and walking to them as slowly as possible to fill up the time...
As for now? I heard a long list of names read out at wife's congo so I guess they are still falling for it

Last year the cong I was in had all reg & aux pioneers stand up at the front of the hall. While they tried to guilt those still in their seat to sign up.
I wonder if that will happen again?
