Joe G. This song was my mantra for many years ... I was only a child when it was released, but immediately gravitated to it. The line "I have my books, and my poetry to protect me" rang so true for me. I was so alone.
I'm happy to say that in the past year, I have been learning to play guitar, and this song is the one I have learned recently,.
The happy part comes in when I tell you that I now SMILE when I sing/play it, as I no longer feel the need to isolate myself, and it is now merely 'a beautiful song'.
