- Moses had the 10 Plagues and the Parting of the Red Sea
- Jesus had a bunch of miracles:
- Turning Water to Wine (good stuff too)
- Walking on Water
- Raising a couple of dead people
- Curing the sick and infirm
- The WTB&TS has ...... nothing!

Just a fallacy of argument. How do we know that other groups of Christians didn't stay in the city? Their leaders said God would protect them (oops)- perhaps another group left by sea. Who knows what really happened. History written after the events can always be sanitized to make the victor look best.

Big problem: By the time you receive the instructions, they are already out of date. If destruction is now, in the time it takes to call all the hounder-hounders and spread the message to the hounders and then the flock, they can already all be gone. At least by doing it yourself, you stand some chance.
And what if they flub up? Even if the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger is 100% accurate and gets the right message out, what happens if just one hounder-hounder misinterprets it and twists the message slightly? The hounders then have to decipher the corrupted message, and all it takes is for one of them to further corrupt it, and everyone in that congregation dies. If you don't think, you are going to walk right into damnation. If you did think, you might be able to figure out the original message and go into salvation while watching everyone else getting destroyed for bad communication.
If obedience at any cost is the test, what if they get the wrong message? Again, supposing the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger again gets it totally right--which is a stretch at best. Now, you get a hounder-hounder that again screws up and sends the hounders the wrong message. One of those hounders is a tyrant, and further corrupts the message on purpose. Several other lead hounders try to fix the message and only make a bigger mess. The remaining half just pass the error down the line. You get one lead hounder that happens to fix the hounder-hounder error. At which point, everyone that obeys the message as they receive disobeys the message the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger put out, except where their lead hounder fixed it. And then that lead hounder disobeyed the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger's instruction to pass the message as they receive, damning that congregation even if they obey the correct message.
Supposedly, Jehovah is the one that has the job of choosing who to destroy and who not to destroy. One person in the field dies while the next one is saved. If I am already in a "saved" condition at the time Armageddon comes, it shouldn't take anyone to "guide" me past it. If I am already damned at that time, all the guidance in the world isn't going to do me any good. Hence, they are wasting everyone's time putting out strict, snap decision instructions toward salvation at that time. And that generously assumes the whole thing isn't a scam--which, with more than 135 years of bad track record, would be more plausible (and, it further assumes that the whole Bible isn't itself a scam).

actually recorded the entire siege of jerusalem. titus gave them opportunities to surrender but they refused. not everyone inside wanted to fight of course but several rebel groups remained mixed up inside. in the beginning these rebels were fighting each other and the romans.after sometime they did join forces but they still lost. cannabalism was rampant because the hostages had no food and couldnt get out. throughout this tragedy the rebels went about burning food and killing those who didnt want to fight. it has been argued that the eurachrist is a remembrance of the cannabalism. hundreds of thousands died in jerusalem. those false messiahs really did bring armageddon to jerusalem back then.

All of the above, the lead up to the expectation that harmaggeddon would come in 1975 being understood then, that.
,that year marked the end of 6000 years of human history ,and it would be an opportune time for jesus to start his 1000 year reign .
Maybe a lot of newbies aren`t aware of these facts.
Of course this is nothing new a similar thing occurred in the lead up to 1914 and also in the lead up to the 2nd world war.
Interestingly russell beleived the 6000 years of human history ended in the late 1800`s
So if the Holy Spirit is directing the WTB&TS it certainly has a lot to answer for.

BALTAR447- Good points you make. The WT leaders don't know anything about " Armageddon " more than WE do ! It is all a crock of $hit ! As you mention it's a marketing ploy to control and deceive JW's into giving their time, energies, and money to the WT society.
OUTLAW- Good points. God wouldn't have a job without the WT society ! I love it. Or he wouldn't have a job without all the thousands of other so-called " Christian " religions or cults as well.
BLUES BROTHER- I do really believe it's pride AND arrogance which makes WT leaders think they are God's spokesmen. They can't conceive of anything else because it would require them to save face or admit to faulty prophecies and admit mistakes to the rank & file JW's. And they'll NEVER do that ! They haven't yet in 132 years , so I don't imagine they'll start anytime soon. I'm glad you supplied that quote from the same WT ( I was thinking of putting it in the initial thread but forgot ) which states, " Have you ever studied something in OUR literature that seems to have been written just for you ? Accept the correction as coming from Jehovah. " I mean - THAT is the epitome of arrogance right there ! Really disgusting.
VM44- I like your expression describing how the WT society wants Witnesses to be, " corpse-like, unthinking, wooden obedience . " Exactly ! You nailed it.
AGONUS- I think the WT society puts mainly the insane material in the Kool-aid version of the WT articles that only JW's study at WT studies. Like you say they put rose-colored feel good information in the public version of the WT that they place out in field service so as not to scare prospective Bible studies away. Very sly method actually. Get them sucked in - then POW ! drop the hatchet on them once they get baptized !
DOZY- The WT society won't encourage " Christian qualities " in JW's because the WT leaders don't CARE about Witnesses HAVING " Christian qualities " . ALL the WT leaders care about is the field service time reports jW's turn in, the attendance figures at meetings, and how many new converts are brought in. They don't CARE about the QUALITY of JW they get- they just want numbers, increase in figures. All the typical JW is is a figure or statistic anyway to them. Really sad. And so they use Armageddon as the scare tactic to keep Witnesses locked into their system.
BREAKFAST of CHAMPIONS- Exactly why the WT society discourages college, as you say they don't want JW's using their minds !
VIDQUN- Good point you make about the WT society consorting with the alleged " wild beast " or the U.N. Yeah, like wHERE are JW's to flee to if their own organization is in bed with the U.N. ? Pretty hypocritical.

WT society is first and foremost interested in maintaining JW members so they stress to them to attend meetings so they can make more $$$ off donations. And remember, the more fanatic long time witnesses that die- the more property, wills, inheritances the WT society will ingest into it's Billion $$$ corporation.
TOTH- And you make ANOTHER great point ! I have felt for a long time that the GB are just figureheads, or puppets displaying an outward symbol of power to rank & file jW's and that the REAL power behind the WT society corporate is the legal department , attorneys, and shareholders in the company $$$$ . So yes indeed, WT society has become MUCH more legalistic in the last 12 years or so.

WHA HAPPENED ? - I think you're right. This article is a shot across the bow of EVERY JW's ship to keep them in fear and scaring them that they better get to those meetings, or else ! And yes, their magazines are horrifically nauseating. Sometimes, I wonder how I can write these threads as it makes me sick to read the crap. But I don't read ALL of it, just the mind controlled bits.
BILLY the EX-BETHELITE- Very true. WT society doesn't want their members thinking about failed predictions from WT leaders past. They'd like to just bury the Russell and Rutherford info somewhere where the sun don't shine. WT society keeps sticking it's foot in it's own mouth by making loony predictions.

It's full speed ahead for the WT society, they really don't care where their train is heading- as long as rank & file JW's are on board riding- that's all they care. Good point you make about the WT society nOT having anything planned anyway. I mean - these wT leaders just want JW's money and control of their lives.
