Christians Have No Right To Wear Cross At Work, Says Government.

That's a darn shame. I was finally going to wear a cross, just for the hell of it basically, because I like the symbolism of it, and now they want to ban it because it identifies Christians? Unbelievable...as if anyone who wears a cross wears it because of their belief; hell, bikers wear crosses. Only in Britain! Keep us posted if this thing flies...
What about Jewish, Muslim, or Sikh-specific religious apparel?
I should be barred from wearing clothes because I am a staunch anti-nudist.

I don't understand what the problem is. Wearing a cross is not a requirement of the christian religion. British Airways and other busnesses have strict uniform rules. Why should christians expect to be exceptions? The woman was allowed to wear her cross under her blouse but apparently that wasn't good enough for her.
There are no government rules against wearing any religious dress or symbols at work but the government do not want Brussels imposing more rules on British companies. It was a decision by a private company that is the issue. As I said wearing across is optional for christians so BA are within their rights to say an employee shall not wear any jewelry with their uniform.
Its another case of the christian persecution complex.
Ok, Cofty, so if I'm not a professed Christian and just want to wear a cross for the sheer hell of it and I work for BA, can I? I'll have to check your answer tomorrow - I'm outa here - work day over....Yeehah

No. All BA employees are prohibited from wearing personal jewery with their uniform. You can wear it under your shirt if you want but not on view. For some reason christians think BA should make an exception for a cross.
That headline is very misleading.

This is what I came up with also, after looking at another article.
In US news:
http://www.physorg.com/news/2012-03-nasa-specialist-axed-intelligent.html
From the article
David Coppedge, who worked as a "team lead" on the Cassini mission exploring Saturn and its many moons, alleges that he was discriminated against because he engaged his co-workers in conversations about intelligent design and handed out DVDs on the idea while at work. Coppedge lost his "team lead" title in 2009 and was let go last year after 15 years on the mission.
Anyone want to spend their days at work being "witnessed" to by JW's?
