One other point I'd like to make about JW's and arrogance. How can a JW avoid a certain degree of arrogance when you KNOW you are right and that the Almighty Creator of the Universe is backing you and has commissioned you to "witness" to people? I don't see how it can be avoided.
My 2nd generation JW father is a master of trying to make it look like he's actually listening to the householder and allowing for the possibility that they might be right, but at his core, he's always right.
That's a mindset I'm still trying to shake off.

I find their arrogance that only they know the Bible so laughable. Some people are unchurched today and have almost no Bible knowledge. I am impressed by how much Anglican normal people know. Witnesses may know WT literature. There are major problems with that b/c the education level is so low that reading comprrehension skills are minimal for many Witnesses. All they do is jump around the Bible. If you ask any Witness, what the major themes of a book are, they have no clue. Ask them to compare Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John. They won't be able to do so.
Bible knowledge has to be assessed against the real world and other cultures. The WT restricts such info. Yet they believe they know more a well-trained seminarian who has studied theology and knows Koine Greek and Hebrew. Look at me, I once believe Witness knowledge was outstanding. The distorted references to secondary materials impressed me greatl
The more I learn I realize that I know very little and that any human doesn't know much. The less they learn, they feel they know more than anyone else. It is scary.

With all the bashing of "False Religion" that the JWs do, it's hard not to bash back. Hell, I do plenty of it myself.
Having the occasional JW apologist on here does us all good though, IMO. Helps keep us from exaggerating and overstating which could send a timid lurker scampering right back to the K Hall.
So, thank you, djeggnogg, your presence here emboldens fence-sitting JWs to continue reading here. After all, if it's OK for someone as "spiritually strong" as you to be here, it must also be OK for Joe Irregular publisher with doubts. Carry on.

Please do om . . . I'm all for it. DJ won't speak to me anymore . . . I'm relegated to the casual observation of his duplicity and logical fallacies being exposed by others. My personal levels of gratification have suffered, but the entertainment value is still reasonable.
