Gotcha. I like dairy, but it doesn't like me. I look forward to watching it.
So, what do you think of that, "pink slime" ground beef filler, now?

Moshe, I read last week that they are even using the pink slime as a filler in the ground beef that we buy at the grocery store. Last year, I got an electric meat grinder on Ebay so that I could make my own. It ends up being cheaper too. All you need to do is buy a roast, grind it up with a bit of fat (You have to use some type of fat or the beef won't bind as well and the meat will be dry), and it turns out much leaner and tastier than store bought. And, you will know exactly what is really in it. I learned to add some real butter while grinding, and the results when cooking are incredible! You will never want store bought again! A few years ago I saw the grocer in the back making ground beef, and the cuts of beef he was using were unlike anything I have seen before.
Pink slime is nasty, ammoniated garbage. "Mechanically separated" meat is just as bad. I won't eat Hot Dogs, Bologna, etc. Once every couple of years or so if I decide to eat a Hot Dog, I will make sure that it is not mechanically separated, and is usually a higher quality brand, such as Hebrew National. I'm very picky when it comes to meat, especially after hearing so many horror stories.

My mother always ground her own hamburger with a mechanical hand grinder. I thought, "okaaaay..." but she was right.
Mom was right a lot...except about the WTBS.
I read recently to use butter when you salt and pepper a prime rib or roast, and to finish a steak with just a bit of butter. Makes sense to put it in the ground beef.

The idea of eating fast food now, just turns my stomach. Every time I think of grabbing something quick, I just see that video of the pink goo. Dis-gus-ting. I guess it's a good thing in the end haha.

One of the reasons I've faded rather than DFd or DAd is because we have a family farm. I actually know the beef that I'm eating. And some of my other food comes right from the farm. It's more work, but it all tastes a lot better.
With food, as with religion, "buyer beware!"
With learning the truth about "the truth", I'm much more health conscious about what I eat and getting exercise. I do eat meat and dairy, but I eat a lot of fruits and veggies. I intend to live a long, healthy life.

Ah yes. Soylent Green -- the ultimate big lie. It's ground up dead people. Open wide.
I gotta agree with B the X. When we had our farm, we ate our own food and it was awesome. I have to get a garden going -- we all should get a garden going with the cost of food going up. A very large portion of the cost of food (95%) is in the packaging, shipping, and carting waste products away. Support your local farmer.
