It was reading this on wikipedia that started me on my journey of discovery...I think it's valuable that it's there. If it hadn't been I would still be a fast asleep JW!
I saw this on Wiki about the 'dubs and i was surprised by it's accuracy

Superb link - great heads up from wha happened!
Whatever its limitations may be, Wikipedia CANNOT logically be dismissed as an apostate website. Its factually-based material is therefore crucial in getting the word out to doubting Witnesses. It information was certainly instrumental in my awakening, and I'm sure it will continue to help many others discover the real truth about the organization.

Phizzy, very true. There are a few very scholarly people on this website who may be inclined to add, or correct any ommisions. Especially if a 'dub gets in there.

Band on the Run
If earth is the only responsibility of Christ, what was he doing for five years? Certainly, his selection of the WTBTS in 1919 was the most pivotal moment in human history. Yet Jesus takes his time. I can just laugh so hard but I sincerely believed it. What about the Bible student movement that started in the 1800s. I am no longer used to people believing the universe revolves around them.
I also recall during the 1960s that there was all this emphasis on youth going bad and turning on the parents. Someone found a pyramid writing from Ancient Egypt where the writers voices his concerns about ancient Egyptian youth in the same manner as the 60s old fogies. I clearly recall when the Beatles were the end of human civilization. The Stones arrived and the Beatles seemed sedate.

bats in the belfry
"While the Internet is a convenient and quick source of vast amounts of information, our researchers do not rely on blogs or poorly documented Web entries written by unidentified or unqualified persons. For example, Wikipedia, an online encyclopedia, warns that some articles on its own site “contain significant misinformation, unencyclopedic content, or vandalism,” adding that “users need to be aware of this.” Thus, the Writing Department looks to standard reference works, articles written by recognized experts, and books produced by respected publishers."
2011 Yearbook, pp. 9-10
Well, at least Wikipedia as a research tool flags misinformation, deletes inappropriate and derogatory remarks, and is very well cross-referenced. That's more than what I can say about the WTBTS literature, especially when they start self-grandeurizing by 'TRACING ALL THINGS WITH ACCURACY’.
Btw, when doing Wikipedia research the GB puts out a general advisory “to be aware of this” misinformation. So, just as you have seen misinformation in various Awake! and The Watchtower magazines - go ahead, check it out: Eschatology of Jehovah's Witnesses (caveat emptor).
