The Authority to speak on behalf of the Living God requires credible bona fides.
When the claim is a false one (born out by failures) much care must be taken to de-emphasize those failures.
It is filtering, reframing, recontexting and revision which keeps the Watchtower Society afloat.
Safeguarding the reputation of this corporation as a mouthpiece of God is much easier when the people who serve and obey
are dead to curiousity and unwilling to challenge their own belief.
The ignorance surrounding the Truth is a mirror of the intellectual vacuity of the membership.
Intellectually honest people do not reside within Kingdom Halls because they are not willing to be wrong when the facts lay bare the errors.
I think the “Proclaimers” book was phased out or at the very least hidden on the top shelf out of reach when the internet came mainstream. I remember probably 15 years ago we would study it in chunks during the ministry school. After that and in more recent years, I don’t remember it being used or referenced that often.
Why?
The internet. 15 years ago most families, especially JW families did not have the internet at home. Maybe at school and work but for the most part not at home. Also anti JW websites were not as prominent as they are now. There were a few but not like there is now.
Basically the proclaimers book gave people just enough information on things like Beth Sarim, The Judge… and other nonsense to make them want to GOOGLE it.
This was actually one of the key things that caused my wife and I to run like hell. I googled WTBTS and specifically the term “Jehovah witness lies” one thing led to another and BAM here I am. Once you start stacking up the reasons why it is NOT the truth they quickly outweigh the reasons it IS the truth.
Ya, it's funny when Proclaimers came out, there was no internet and what a "wonderful" resource f&d slave provided. Then you get internet with old publications being digitized and freely available and anyone can see that Proclaimers book was a typical propaganda one would expect from wts.
As for Rutherford, wts hides as much as they can about their past so there is no surprise that there is nothing on Rutherford on their site. I'm sure there is not much on Russell or Knorr on there either. Forget about 1975 and Freddy, so if one wants to call it coverup, well I guess it is but it has nothing to do with Rutherford but has to do with general wts past.
The only history that wts will print is cherry picked events in their favor, or history twisted enough to fit an article knowing that typical witness will not go out of their way to dig up old article and check the source. WTS is all about today while yesterday is old light, old troof not worth mentioning.
It's actually a violation of the Judicial Code of Conduct to use the title "Judge" when you are not currently a sitting judge. Rutherford was only entitled to use that title during the four days he served as a substitute.
