This is a song thread that will take a little thought. I'd like for you to share songs that sound atmospheric and conjure up feelings of night air or a smokey room, the energy of the ocean's roar or capture the joy of a party or celebration. The songs can be transportive and take you other places by their sound and the visuals they evoke from the stories they tell.
My first one is from Tim McGraw. There is an eery sound through out the song, I think it's played on a keyboard. And the description of the two women characters, Jesse and Jenny, taking off like a bottle rocket through a field of corn, through the moonlit night towards the railroad tracks.... This feels just like the meadows across from the house in northwest Georgia where I raised my children. Beyond them was a railroad track. We lived so far out in the country that you could see billions of stars and for a long time the Hale-Bopp Comet. Sounds carried long through the summer night air. The train whistle would blow and the train would feel like it was much closer to us than during the day. It was spooky and beautiful. This song conjures up the atmosphere, the air, the dark, the light and the sounds of that place and time, when my children were young and I was 25 years younger than I am today.
Treat yourself to a listen. This is a sad song, but it's done so well:
