Which 'THIS' generation will by no means pass away?

I know this has been said a thousand times already but Oodads posting reminded me of when I got to thinking about the generation teaching at a family get together we had a couple of months ago with some Witness relatives and so much wanted to ask this question at the table. But didn't.

Imagine it is the year 1914, and Jesus walks into the room and sees these four generations of males. He says ''this generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur''.

Which of the four generations is he talking about?

None of the four in the picture. It is the generation that is going to come along in about 90 years time when the oldest three generations are dead and the baby in the picture is at death's door. That is the generation Jesus was addressing when he walked in to the room and saw the men in the picture.

We had four generations of the same family around the table and one of the Witnesses did comment on it. Not wanting to start an arguement I refrained from pointing out my take on the generation teaching.

    TC: Good looking family.

I'm intrigued that someone at your relatives even raised the issue. Your picture and your reasoning just show how utterly ridiculous this latest bit of WT Theology is.

    Stupid is as stupid does!

Oodad, yes it is very stupid reasoning.

At our mealtable great grandfather and grandfather are Witnesses. Father and son are not. It was the grandfather who commented on how nice it was that there were four generations of the same family at the table. I wanted to say 'yes but actually all one generation' but then realized even that wasn't quite correct in WT land.

We needed several more generations to come along over the next 90 years to still be the 'this generation' that Jesus evidently was referring to.

By the way, this is not a picture of my family.

Yeah, sometimes it is so hard to bite your tongue, but the fact is that in JW-land having an original thought is not encouraged. In fact it is actively discouraged and punishable by spiritual death, aka disfellowshipping.

BTW, it's still a good looking family. The pic I posted in my thread isn't my family either.

The generation teaching that the WTS has espoused for the last century will always be a fraudulent teaching for its based from

their own unscriptural calculation of the year 1914. They are so unrelentingly disrespectful to Jesus and his own words that they

have now put their words into Jesus's mouth be saying what he meant to say was Generation(s) .

You have to be a little deceitful and corrupt when running a religion and trying to sustain it.

What religion doesn't have an agreed to set of lies supporting it ?

The real kicker is realizing that Jesus was talking to his apostles, and thus to their generation. He didn't say "when these things occur that generation..." but was speaking to this generation, the one right in front of him.

Good point I Want to Believe

Ironic that the WTS. never were inspired to be close to the Truth in the information which they presented toward the public....they still don't.

I guess they wouldn't have anything to sell.

"Evidently" (favorite WT adverb used when there's no proof) Jesus was simply telling his disciples that the "anointed" would not all pass away before the end comes.

This has bought the WTS a lot more time, considering that:

    (1) "New light" did away with the 1935 closing of the anointed class; and

    (2) The number of partakers at the Memorial keeps growing instead of shrinking.

that's funny, Ding , revelation says the last one is killed with the axe then the four winds of destruction are let loose . The WTBTS makes a mess out of dogma .
