But who else is doing this great work ?

Oops ! The SAD's , started around the same time, twice as big and baptise more than twice as many as the Dubs each year. Now, there is a cult that is still growing ! Don't get sucked in though, they can be as nasty as JW's to those who leave.

    Just to clarify:

I am not giving this any weight.

The elder that this is attributed to is seniour senior and "well connected".

I did not hear it directly.

Yes, it has no more validity than a rumour and should be given no more credence than that.

The reason I posted it is that between this community the truth often emerges, I hope that someone is in a position to confirm or deny its validity.

    Oooh, I like it.

I remember "Stay alive 'till '75."That one got lots of people on the edge of their seats, selling their houses and pioneering-that is, until 75 came and went and nothing happened.

I think they may have something new here to activate the now lethargic publishers. Let's think of a new slogan or two:

THE WORK IS OVER-BETTER TAKE COVER

    HOLD STEADY-BIRD FOOD IS READY

NO MORE PREACHING WORK-IF YOU'RE NOT IN YOU'RE A JERK

    IF YOU AIN'T BAPTISED-YOU WON'T BE ALIVE

THE ARK DOOR IS SHUT-HOLD ON TO YOUR BUTT

    Any more?

My take, and it's pure speculation, is that the puiblications arn't really getting placed beyond the 'dubs, whatever calls they have, and disinterested non-JW relatives. Also the response by now is probably getting pretty negative, as anyone with any sort of interest will google JW's and find a treasure trove of dirt. So now the message is that the preaching work has been accomplished. Noah preached a pending doom for 90 something years. And the dubs get excited on their new message. Almost like a '75 campaign, the numbers were likely squeezed for about 10 years

This is nothing new...They have said in the past many times that the preaching work has been accomplished and we are now in the ned of the end. Door to door witnessing is not going away. It is simply the WT is spending less on its resources. The WT will never call an end to the door to door work- it is free publicity and busy work to keep the members slaving and feeling guilty they are not doing enough.

Sounds like someone's personal spin on Sunday's big announcement. Helps to calm the cognitive dissonance by rationalizing the meaning behind the change.

BoC; surely there will be nothing "great" announced during the Special Talk, the real big news comes out in the WT study?

And in addition it is one more thing that the elders can use if they want to call someone on the carpet for not being a good JW.

They only say these things to keep R&F thinking the end is night and the preaching work is actually accomplishing something.

I've heard multiple times that Matt. 24:14 has been fulfilled. Really? The "good news" has been preached in all the inhabited earth? I think not.

There are millions around the world who have never heard of the witlesses, and even more who have no idea what they believe; when it comes to religions they’re barely a blip on the radar.

So how can you say you’ve finished an informational campaign when no one knows who you are?

Exactly...they have in the past said the preaching work has now been completed, and the end is soooo close that it is now just a warning work...they have replaced books they use to study with interested ones with newer books, claining it is a more direct message because the end is sooooo close and no time to waste....nothing at all new here
