To add something on the topic, in a letter from the french's watchtower, the writer was very aware of what kind of information which circulated on the net about the UN/WT association's topic.

    Bye

    Hi Charles,

I am planning to add a category with news and background info on Jehovah's Witnesses from (European) countries. If you have time, could you write a brief article for WatchtowerInformationService.org about the latest developments in France?

Wooo Hooo let them snoop! I aint worried about it... what is the worse they can do? Damn us to everlasting cutting off in.... ummm ... 2014... or um.... 2075...

Perhaps they will learn something from Apostate sites... my guess would be that they are VERY senior Dubs who are buried deep in the borg or Dubs who are aware of all the bullshit within the borg and are nothing less than Spin Doctors!! As Kylie so aptly put it, "Better the Devil you know"

I work as a Systems Administrator for an Internet company. With my experience, I have to agree with the original poster regarding this. A little program called Neo Trace will give you the trace for srv1.wtbts.org straight to Brooklyn NY headquarters. It will even give the longitude and latitude of their location. Heh. (The power of the Internet).

This definately came from Bethel. At my company, we recently locked down our LAN so that our own employees can't go anywhere on the NET without us knowing exactly where, for how long, and from what workstation. No reason to think the WT doesn't do that for their Bethelites. I would say they are seeing what they have to do "damage control" on as the poster points out. People don't set up their LAN's for casual use these days for just anyone to happen by. If nothing else, I am sure that they have the LAN locked down tight so that no one uses their machines to surf porn sites (visiting contractors and non-JW's included).

An "insider" would go to the public library and surf the web if they are smart; because they wouldn't last long otherwise, imho.

Looks like their Info Sec security is pretty low. If they were bright they would use a proxy that doesn't have their name on it. Oops. Oh well. Bet they won't do that again.

I wouldn't be surprised if members of the Governing Body went to sites; the legal team; or high-ranking members who are assigned to do research. The GB and the elders think they are above the rules. I suspected this for some time.

Here is the output from the trace:

I agree with CF that this could be the legal department looking. They very well may be distressed by Fado's use of the "Watchtower" name in the title of his site.

He may want to get ready for a legal onslaught from WT legal.

Well, considering that the Netherlands has one of the most liberal copyright laws in the world, he shouldn't be too worried. I don't think this little website would be worth all the legal hassles and negative publicity for the WTS, anyway.

    p.s.: It's a great little website, Rado!
